Description

versions:
Dolphin 3.0 32bit
Windows 7 x64 SP1
ATI Radeon 5850

Games tested after problem appears: Harvest Moon Animal Parade, Rune Factory Frontier, Rune Factory Tides of Destiny

Problem: Framelimit setting suddenly stops limiting game speed. The games I tested run up to 500% vps in title screens, 150-200% in some other places, FPS limit of 60 has no effect on them. My cpu can provide that speed (i7-930).

Problem appears randomly when I start the game, and only on start. It does not happen while the game is running.

Solution I have: Reboot the computer. Nothing else helps.

Things I tried that did not help:

  • changing fps limit, (un)checking "limit by fps"
  • changing dx9 to dx11 and vice versa
  • (un)checking vsync
  • changing display resolution
  • running another version on Dolphin (yes, the problem is global, old r7671 ignores fps limit too)
  • running other game (I wrote above the games I tested with, these are the only ones I have)
  • changing some graphic/cpu settings in config

I suspect (since the bug affects my system globally) that it could be related to graphic card or buggy ATI drivers. The problem appeared before and after updating to latest catalyst. It doesn't happen often, but when it does I have to close and save everything and reboot.

Yes, my guess is that something on your system is triggering the Tab key action (the unthrottle key). I have slightly altered the throttle mechanism in the very latest version but that is unlikely to fix this issue - worth giving it a try, though. You have already tested everything else correctly.

Closing this as it is a local issue and has not been reproduced elsewhere.

Yes, probably it got stuck when I alt-tabbed from Dolphin window. I suspect Windows API is responsible for that.
It should be pretty specific conditions and I could not reproduce it again. It just stopped happening as soon as I knew about tab key, it didn't occur even once after that. Too bad that I couldn't confirm it
