Emulator Issues #4970
closedLoss of Gamepad response in-game in latest revisions

Description
[The following is a template to help you fill out a more informative
report]
Note:
Many games do not run yet, or have known problems. Please do not report
those games without giving any more information. That means reports like
"Game XYZ crashes" are not helpful. Instead try to include as much debug
information as possible. Also try to search the issue tracker for similar
bugs before creating a new issue.
--------------------------------------
- Game Name and ID (as it appears in right click > properties:
Any GC game
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Response from the game when buttons are pressed on the Controller. What I get instead is the game continues to run but with no reaction from the controller. However controller works fine in the controller setup for GC just not in the game.
- Did the Controller ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
Not sure when this started. I'll have to back track. 3.0 works fine and that's what I've been using before now.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Open up GC Controller setup and config (notice controller works fine)
- Start game
- Pressing start or any other button does nothing.
5) What version of dolphin are you using (32bit/64bit along with the
version as it appears in the title bar, etc)?
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.
Tried Mamario's build 3.0-200 64bit and 3.0-199 64bit neither works. Running Win7 64bit. Latest Nvidia drivers (Oct). EVGA Geforce 460GTX.
Controller is a PS2 Controller with USB adapter (never had a problem before)
6) Please provide any additional information below.
7) Attachments. IMPORTANT! We have a limited storage quota on
GoogleCode, so please use a 3rd party host for screenshots or any other
files (http://min.us/ for example).

This is a mix of user error and shuffles recent changes, if you haven't deleted your dolphin.ini between revisions,... which you usually should, the Game pad is not set as connected on port 1.

OK so I have to delete my dolphin.ini on a new install of a new revision which doesn't exist until after I have configured said new revision. That doesn't make any sense. You are implying that I have extracted revision downloads over my existing ones which who would do something that stupid. Every time I download a new revision I extract it into it's own folder and then run from there. fwiw I narrowed it down to going by mamario's build number 3.0-186. Builds before then did not have it and builds after that do. And that revision is the Merge branch 'TaruKonga' The DK Bongos one.

If you hadn't noticed, the most recent x64 releases actually INCLUDE a copy of the dolphin.ini as well as a number of other folders the x86 edition does not.
so yeah.... theres the source of some recent problems.

hmm interesting, I can see if that was the case then sure I get what you are saying but none of Mamarios x64 Builds that I downloaded came with that ini.
Updated by SpiderTECH611 almost 13 years ago
And yes I actually downloaded most of the builds back tracking to find that 3.0-186 had the issue and none of them included the ini

x:\Downloads\Emulator\Dolphin-win-x64-v3.0-200.7z\User\Config\Dolphin.ini
Its still there as of the latest.
Updated by danialhorton almost 13 years ago
x:\Downloads\Emulator\Dolphin-win-x64-v3.0-186.7z\User\Config\Dolphin.ini
and its right there in 186.

OK I'm really not trying to be difficult and argue with you but I just re-downloaded Mamario's build 3.0-200 64bit did not extract it but instead opened it and while yes there is a user folder sorry no user\config folder and no dolphin.ini to be found. Now once you have configured the settings yes indeed you have a user\config folder with the ini but that is only after I have configured it.

That would be because the File has been changed in the past 10 minutes.
previously it was 4.8MB, now its 4.3

if you download R199, it still includes the map, log and config folders + files.
the new upload does not include the config folder or dolphin.pdb

I'm using Winrar that has never failed me before and 7zip. whatever I'll except your apology later. I can only download it a million and one times and get the same result, the million and 2nd time downloading it is just too much for my apparent small brain to comprehend. I'm going to bed.

good luck accepting an apology you won't be given.
the first time you downloaded included the ini
the second time which has since been changed did not.

---- Do me a favor next time. Ask some questions first before you dismiss an issue as Invaild. Mark it questionable. That only pissed me off more when you completely dismissed me and acted like I didn't know what I'm talking about.
So after re-downloading the same 3.0-200 tonight it actually worked. So this is indeed now Invaild.

He was clear and concise in what the problem was and identifying it. So admit that you made an error and wasted everybody's time with an invalid issue instead of being a dick about it.
