Emulator Issues #5001
closedAdd automatic save state
0%
Description
I'm playing Metroid Prime 3. The problem is that the game suffer of random crash.
To prevent this and don't waste time to repeat the same things when the crash occurs i usually do a savestate every little time.
Sometimes, engaged from the game, i forget to save for some time and it's annoying that the game crash after 10-15 minutes that i have forgot to save state and then repeat again the same things from the last ingame save.
Would be wonderful if the emulator can be configured to do an automatic savestate every minute(or a configurable amount of time)and remember the last 3 or more savestate( to prevent a faulty savestate, so if the last don't load correctly i load the 2 minute old one).
Hi.

I'm pretty sure you can do this with external software. There are macro softwares which you can time for them to press Shift+F1 when you need, like, each 5 minutes or so.

I took my time to upload the software I use here: It's called Quick Macro, and I've also attached a little tutorial I did quickly to help you out. Hope it helps, it works perfectly fine for me on MP3.

Thanks. The software is very useful. But i think that an integration in the emulator would be better. in the meantime the software that you give to me is a good alternative.
Thanks again.

Seems to me it would be relatively simple to add a savestate auto-timer. Many image and game map editors include autosave features for just this purpose (if the program or OS crashes, there's minimal data loss). Starred.

Wiki shows that this game runs well on 5.0 (https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Metroid_Prime_3:_Corruption_(Wii)) and user should be attempting to resolve the crashes rather than have a feature added to deal with it.
Dolphin emulates the Wii save system which has it's per-game auto-save as per the game design in addition to Dolphin's own save system that can be used instantaneously. Not to mention multiple people have suggested external macro recorders, I'd argue this feature is pointless and suggest it be resolved.

- Status changed from New to Won't fix
Yeah, the random crashes are fixed. In single core there's no reason to even have to reset. No one did this over 5 years, so, no reason to keep it open.
