Description
--------------------------------------
- Baiten Kaitos - Eternal Wings
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
- It always brings up an error window saying DSI exception in stmw and DSI exception in dmw and lots of things telling that Dolphin will probably gonna crash, enjoy :P
- I also have some issues with the sounds that seem to get fixed when im using a revision...don't exactly remember which one though (Im downloading and testing many revisions, but the game crashes anyway)
- The game is also running slow when im at towns-villages and area with monsters, seems to be running ok thought inside combat and in menus. The gamespeed is also fixed in some revisions other than 3.0
- What version of dolphin are you using: Im using 3.0-203.
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2833 MHz
RAM: 4 GB, DDR2 Graphics: NVidia GeForce 9800GTX/GTX+

If you're using a 32-bit system it could be probably due to issue 4926 merged into issue 4906
Updated by pgavros789 about 13 years ago
So what do i have to do exactly??? I've read issue 4906 and it provides ''possible'' advice and testings for another game....
Updated by pgavros789 about 13 years ago
http://www.emucr.com/2011/09/dolphin-git-30-77.html only contains revisions for 64x and 86x....And yes im using 32-bit system.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 13 years ago
I't another game but the problem is the same because in Xenoblade Chronicles you get those error messages in-game as well...anyway you don't have to do anything special, only wait for a proper fix, meanwhile use a revision pre 3.0-73
Updated by pgavros789 about 13 years ago
Im testing http://minus.com/mbozDqCOc8#1 at the moment and the game seems to be running fine, no crashes so far...Still the gamespeed while at towns and monsterplaces is slow, but that's nothing compared to the crashes. We'll see :)

I warned you to use a revison before r3.0-73;-)
Updated by pgavros789 about 13 years ago
Like? Can u suggest me some revisions i could test?...
Updated by delroth about 13 years ago
3.0-73 has no changes that could cause segfaults or that kind of errors. Stop spreading wrong facts.
Have you checked your dump to make sure it is not corrupted? Can anyone else reproduce these crashes on Baten Kaitos? I was not able to when running Dolphin on a 32 bit system.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 13 years ago
Use r3.0-71 (http://www.emucr.com/2011/08/dolphin-git-30-71.html), r3.0-73 is definitely broken (DSI exceptions) for 32-bit systems, but it could be due to 3.0-72 (if someone has a link to it I could test it).
Updated by delroth about 13 years ago
Can you back up your assumptions with facts, or can I go back to ignoring what you're saying?
Neither of the commits you're pointing out are x86-32 specific or could cause DSI exceptions.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 13 years ago
The facts are in issue 4906: r3.0-71 is the last revision available that properly emulates Xenoblade Chronicles with 32-bit builds; with r3.0-73 r95517a9741175f15124dc11e132620a23bec7a19 (but as I said it could be due to r3.0-72) you get black sky and DSI exception in stmw and DSI exception in lmw in the middle of the intro-scene. You also get DSI exceptions in-game as well.
According to other users, 64-bit builds aren't affected.

I tested Baten Kaitos on r.3.0-204-dirty and it works perfect. It really is a little slower when you are in towns, but that's about all there is to it. As for Xenoblade Chronicles - the dark sky and the exceptions are present only on 32-bit OS.

r3.0-72 should be this one: Revision 7812346c8973
If someone can build it and give a link we could see if it is responsible for black sky and DSI exceptions in 32-bit OS.

It could be, but i'm wondering what OS are you using Pgavros? I'm using Windows XP SP3 and don't have any problems when i play Baten Kaitos on the newer builds (3.0-204 and above). I even tested the game on a friend's PC with Windows 7 and again it ran like a charm. I don't think that this issue could be completely related to Issue 4906.
Updated by pgavros789 about 13 years ago
I also have a problem installing Windows 7, but that's anooother story :P
Updated by hbk013 about 13 years ago
I think that SP3 is planned for Vista, but I'm sure the latest is still SP2.
If you can install Windows 7 normally use it because it is way better than Vista.
Most people say that Windows 7 is what Vista should have been back in 2007.

Same issue here on Archlinux Linux 3.1.9-2-pae
Machine features: Intel Core 2 Quad @2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9500 GT 1GB
I am using dolphin git, commit: 20120107
For solve the crashes, I have disabled in Config menu, the following options:
Enable Dual Core (speedup)
Enable Idle Skipping (speedup)
It solves the crashes but the game goes very slow (10-30 FPS) in the battle screen.
Also, I have noticed, the crashes, mainly are produced, having lots of "Magnus" (cards) and by accessing to their menu and by scrolling it down or top.
Updated by delroth almost 13 years ago
This menu uses a lot of EFB color peeks. If there is still a bug in the EFB peek cache that might be why you're getting crashes.
Can you try re-enabling Dual Core and Idle Skipping but disabling EFB CPU access (in the video tab)?
