Description

  1. Game Name and ID

GHAE08 and GLEE08

2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Dunno did someone reported this issue already (i couldnt find it via search), its an very old one. Graphics are corrupted and/or pixelated, dependable on video plugins used and options checked.

Here are examples:

Plugin used -OpenGl

Force texture filtering - disabled
AA x16 , AS x16

http://i.imgur.com/SnQWn.jpg

A you can see, background and text in menus are alot pixelated and there are also some lines (graphic errors) in images.

Text and overall graphics is less pixelated, but there are much more lines, as you can see in second screenshot.

Not to mention corrupted audio, only bright side of these two games is performance (which is very good 95-100% speed). Graphics and audio are teri-bad.

3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.

Ive found video on youtube, which contains none problems of these
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKuld7j49dU

Revision which he claims that used is SVN R5391

5) What version of dolphin are you using (32bit/64bit along with the
version as it appears in the title bar, etc)?
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.

3.0-305

OS: W7 Ultimate SP1 x64
CPU: Intel i5 2500k
VGA: ASUS ENGTX 460 1GB
RAM: Kingston 8GB ddr3 1600MHz
MB: Asus P8P67 B3
All drivers are up to date.

confirming that. well, maybe pixel-like style because of old game, but the sound is terrible... when you gain control over claire or leon background music more not play then play. you can hear only small pieces of it, but zombies sounds and etc sounds good.
game run at 100% speed

Probably invalid.

Not all games are meant to have better visual quality by enabling AA or raising IR. Does the game look any different on GC?

Concerning the audio issue, use DSP LLE.

Performance is a non-issue.

Do NOT create an issue with multiple different problems in it.

Hi, I remember playing Resident evil 1 on PC (the native PC version) something like 15 years ago with my brand new 3DFx, and it also had this glitch with vertical and horizontal lines which seems to be due to wrong texture mapping. I think Resident evil 2 did the same. So, I'm not saying this is normal, but there seems to be a cross platform problem with their 3D engine. About the pixelated look, well... those games are just old and they're not supposed to look better.

yep, I had the same issue with PC ports of RE2 and 3 and I guess it is specific to these games' rendering.

I've been having a similar issue with RE2 and Re3 for GC and I'll explain what it going on. I was originally intending to make a mod for the games to increase the level of detail of the background images by dumping the textures then resizing and enhancing them and loading them back in using Dolphins Load Custom Textures. (Because Texture Filtering was not working with RE2) I then discovered that the problem is that what you see on the screen is not one big picture, it has multiple images similar to a puzzle. Most of the time it is the right 1/4 side of the screen and things like railings and other objects that are in the foreground. Now simply up-scaling would not really cause an issue (In most cases) but that would only make the game bigger and not have any graphical enhancement. Enhancing the images however, makes them not align correctly, this is what causes the lines you see during gameplay. Because the game uses pieces of a image with another image to build what you see on the screen, enhancements can merge with another section of the full image and then when cut out and put together for the game, it doesn't fit anymore and also when scaled, white (for example) might be set in the game as transparent but then adding an enhancement it might merge with another color (to smooth jagged edges), ever so slightly, causing it to not register as transparent anymore which makes grey borders around foreground objects. This is just the way this game is designed and the only real resolve is to disable Texture Filtering.... or a hack is needed to modify the way Texture Filtering works and find a better way to enhance the graphics without messing up the way it all fits together. Hope I explained it correctly and if I find a way to correct this with a specific way of enhancing the image, I will post an update. :-)

PS. I forgot to mention that Anisotropic Filtering is also a factor because it enhances the textures aswell, causing all the same issues I mentioned above.

Ran Resident Evil 2 in a number of situations, the game is a port and just look really bad/blurry/horrible no matter what, but the lines on the screen at times are a definite issue. Other than that, the game is crap.

I remmember that some one of developers said that custom texture pack could be done for RE 2 and 3 but he NeoBrain'd it after. :)

@tommy Game doesent suck, tastes are different.
If there arent those lines game graphics would be very nice. (filtering removes pixelated graphics but adds that annoying lines.
It would be nice if you could do something with those lines.

The graphics "issues" are non-issues.
AA and AF may cause glitches.

Crappy background music is a valid issue.
