Emulator Issues #5698
closedLoZ: WInd Waker: blackscreen after final cutscene - no Second Quest
0%
Description
- Game Name and ID (as it appears in right click > properties: "GZ2P01",
"RSBE01", etc):
Legend of Zelda:: The Wind Waker : PAL
GZLP01
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
After the final boss and credits, the game should return to a menu screen and provide a save file for Second Quest.
instead, after the credits and final cut-scene, the screen goes black. Framerate does not drop, but nothing happens on screen no matter how long it's left.
3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
Not that I know of.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Playing through LoZ:WW and beating the final boss
2.Watching through the credits and final cut scene
3.Observing the screen immediately after the final cut scene to be black.
- What version of dolphin are you using?
Dolphin 3.0 - 801 dirty - 64 bit
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.
Windows 7
Radeon 5700 series graphics card
Intel Core i7 @ 2.93 GHz
6) Please provide any additional information below.
Originally i thought this was simply an instance of the cut-scene blackscreen found by other users, but its not reproducible on any other cut-scene. I played through the whole game without the hang items patch enabled and with HLE audio without any other cut-scene blackscreens.
I have also attempted playing through the final boss and credits roll with:
- the hang items patch enabled
- using LLE audio
- frame limit manually set to 50
- frame limit manually set to 60
No dice.
This final cut-scene is different to all other cut-scenes in the game, because while other cut-scenes are rendered in real time, this final cut-scene is pre=rendered and played as a FMV. This is relevant in differentiating this issue from the typical cut-scene blackscreen issue.

Do you have a memory card save game and save state?

Also, we do not support -dirty versions. Use an official version of dolphin from http://dolphin-emu.org/download/

I'll test this on my Japanese iso. I haven't heard of this ever happening before. Usually for crashes, LLE audio would fix it. Another thing to think about the FMV issue is that the intro reel montage thing is also FMV.

Hello,
I'm encountering the same issue (blackscreen after final cutscene) and i'm running the game with Dolphin 3.0
I've played with "hang items patch" enabled and disabled : no change.
Have you fixed this? Please post your settings if you do.

OP here,
Tried again with official build, still doesn't work.
Bashed around with the settings again, but eventually just gave up, downloaded a save file from GameFAQs at the start of the second quest and I'm playing that now.
Disappointing that nothing seemed to work - still have no idea what was actually causing the crash.

I finished this game with 3.5 without a single cutscene issue. I did have some sound issues with LLE, but that is a different issue. This game is completely playable from beginning to end with 3.5.

Issue 5863 has been merged into this issue.

haddoc, can you post all your settings? I'm using 3.5 and it's barely playable. I have had multiple black screens, random slowdowns, screen flicker & rooms failing to load (or one time even: loaded incorrectly). Also, are you using save states or 100% memory card?
