Emulator Issues #5760
closedLegend of Zelda Skyward Sword: Garbled audio plays in background

Description
- Game Name and ID (as it appears in right click > properties: "GZ2P01",
"RSBE01", etc):
SOUE01
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Occasionally when initiating combat (seems to only happen with bokoblins), garbled audio noise will begin looping in the background. Sounds like it's going through and playing literally every single audio file in the game in order from start to finish, as I can distinctly hear the million different "huagh" noises that Link makes while swinging his sword, plus different door opening noises, pots breaking, sword swings, explosions, noises on moving crates, etc. There's a definite pattern to it in terms of ordered sound, and I think it continues looping playing every individual sound until you restart the emulator.
3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
I don't remember this happening on previous versions of the emulator, (maybe around 3.0-300?), but it's happening on 3.0-865.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Z-target bokoblin
- Swing sword so the bokoblin blocks it
- Randomly / rarely (about once an hour), audio will break
5) What version of dolphin are you using (32bit/64bit along with the
version as it appears in the title bar, etc)? Do not say 'latest version'
this changes multiple times a day.
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.
Using 3.0-865 64-bit Dolphin on Windows 8 x64. Audio hardware is a standard realtek onboard chip.
6) Please provide any additional information below.
Using HLE audio with DSound/48khz. Unsure if it happens with LLE, since it's hard to reproduce.

Scratch that, it happens entirely randomly. I went AFK with the emulator running for a few minutes and came back to the sound of Link's sword hitting various different types of objects, before it moved on to the many different noises that Fi can make.

See issue 4452. LLE works fine with SS if your hardware can keep up (except for an annoying stuttering/crackling that starts after about 30 minutes and seems to require an emulator restart to correct - is it just me?)

Nevermind, it's actually a duplicate of issue 5057. Changing the backend to XAudio2 fixes it.

Actually, this still occurs on XAudio2. It's much rarer than DSound, though.
