Emulator Issues #5907
closedOpenAL issue: Loading states without pro logic or different audio-backend Crashes Dolphin
0%
Description
Game Name:
Every game I've tested so far
Game ID:
N/A
What went wrong?
Saved a state using the new OpenAL audio backend with "Dolby Pro Logic 2 decoder" enabled, deciding I wanted to use Xaudio2 again. Then I tried to reload that same save-state and Crashed. After some additional testing I discovered that the "Dolby Pro Logic II decoder" was the culprit.
What did you expect to happen?
Save states should be loadable independently of any backend or options, be it audio or video
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Save a state with OpenAL backend using "Dolby Pro Logic II Decoder"
- Load that state with any other audio backend, or disable the "Dolby Pro Logic II Decoder"
Dolphin Version:
Dolphin x64 3.5-270
Branch: Master
Revision: 0ef3bd9c778a786ec439950f64c863d64ccf98b6
Did the game ever work correctly?
Haven't tried an older build. If this one didn't require OpenAL32.dll to be installed, I wouldn't have tried it out.
Operating System and version:
Windows 7 x64 SP1

Can't confirm this (yet) as it works fine for me, though I tried with Dolphin 3.5-252, not sure if it matters but I'll grab the latest version and report back.

Alright, tested with the latest build now (3.5-270) and it still works fine for me, though I use DSP-LLE recompiler and DSP-LLE on thread. Everything loads fine and all. But yeah, I saved a state with OpenAL and the Dolby Pro Logic II decoder, then stopped the emulation and disabled the decoder and went back to the XAudio2 backend, started up the game again, and loaded the state I made with the OpenAL backend, and it loads fine.

Nope, did the same test with DSP-HLE and it still works fine for me. Maybe it has to do with your OpenAL drivers or something?

... Strange. For some reason am I unable to reproduce my own issue today. And I really tested it about 50 times with different games and everything.
I don't think this is/was a Dolphin problem. Issue can be marked "Invalid".

Yeah, I highly doubted that this issue had to do anything with Dolphin, good to hear it works as intended.
