Emulator Issues #5950
closedN64 VC Game Regression: Cannot pass Classic Controller Screen
0%
Description
Starting at 3.5-316, N64 VC games cannot pass the "You will need the classic controller" screen. Alt-F5 and other tricks do not work, and it occurs regardless of graphics backends, JIT/JITIL, Dual Core on/off, Accurate Vbeam on/off, and all the other settings I've tried. It also occurs if a wii remote is not even connected, and all remote slots set to "nothing".

To get past the classic controller screen, enable progressive scan in the graphics settings.

This issue seems to have re-emerged since 3.5-644 Merge branch 'FIFO-BP' and N64 games don't seem to work currently on master since then. Progressive scan doesn't help either.

Uncheck Accurate VBeam emulation to make the N64 games work.

This issue is not fixed. As of 3.5-1321 the problem still occurs.

I spoke out of turn. The issue is fixed, I was just too impatient. It seems it takes a while to create the save file for the game, and it looks like it's frozen on the "You will need the Classic Controller" screen, but I just left it alone for a couple of minutes, then the game started up. After the save file was created, it boots up instantly.
