What went wrong?
Black screen after obtaining the first Grand Star. Using LLE, or HLE with XAudio2 is supposed to fix it, but it does not.
What did you expect to happen?
Game should proceed.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
Obtain the first Grand Star after defeating the snake boss.
What version of Dolphin were you using?
3.5-379

What Operating System were you using and what are your hardware
specifications?
Tried on Windows 7 (not yet on Linux). CPU is i7 3770k @ 4.2GHz and GPU is GTX 680.

Both LLE (with LLE on Thread and XAudio2 back-end) and HLE (with XAudio2 back-end) plug-ins make the game freeze. Using JIT recompiler, DX9 back-end with recommended settings from the wiki page, and a real TR Wiimote.

I'm on r379 clean build
Tried this just to be sure on 5th Grand Star was closest not taken star from my save
LLE with on Thread still works perfectly, no freezes
and it's long known about HLE and SMG games
So.. not an issue

Look, I reproduced it 2 times already on my machine, going to on Linux real soon but I think it already qualifies as an issue. Technically the fifth grand star is not the first, but anyway, I don't want to be rude or to argue with you, I know you do this for free, so I'll just leave that game aside until some commit fixes it again by chance.

Ok i'll try the first star they are all the same and if it doesn't work i'll reopen it, besides maybe you just got DSP HLE Emulation (fast) option chacked in your game options

No I'm sure I used LLE, the music doesn't cut, also I'm always using XAudio2 on Windows and HLE is supposed to work with it according to the wiki. I'll try LLE on thread + OpenAL on Linux first thing this evening and try to get a log out of it if I can reproduce the black screen. I'll get back to you then.

Just tried LLE on thread + OpenAL on Linux and the game proceeded just fine (I built 3.5-383 for the test), same graphics options except of course for the back-end. I'll go further into the game on Windows and see if I can get past the second grand star.
