Have you searched the issue tracker for a similar issue?
Yes. I couldn't find much dealing with memory patches.

Game Name?
Kirby: Return to Dreamland (Wii NTSC-U)
Wave Race Blue Storm (GC NTSC-U)

Game ID?
Kirby - SUKE01
Wave Race - GWRE01

What went wrong?
I was fooling around with Dolphin's game patching feature (I wasn't trying to do anything significant, just seeing what it would do). I was using crediar's Metafortress patch to see where it was making changes in Kirby RTD. The game crashed (black screen) upon running the game. Without closing Dolphin, I went to run Wave Race and noticed some odd defects with the game that aren't normally there like these weird water droplets on the game's opening loading screen. Dolphin will crash if you try to choose a course if you select any of the modes. Older revisions (I forget which one I used) didn't crash at the course screen, but starting the race causes the racers to slowly sink deep into the ocean. Upon reopening Dolphin and running Wave Race again, the defects don't occur.

What did you expect to happen?
I expected the changes caused by the Kirby patch to occur only with Kirby RTD. No other game should be affected by these changes.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
First, here's a copy of my .ini for Kirby's RTD:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/25997218imc63tz/SUKE01.ini

Download this and put it in the GameConfig directory.

1.) Open Dolphin and right click Kirby's RTD and go to properties. Make sure the "metafortress" patch is enabled.
2.) Run Kirby's RTD. The game should hang at a black screen.
3.) Stop emulation (don't close Dolphin) and run Wave Race Blue Storm.
4.) Upon launching the game, you'll see signs of the defects caused by the patch:

As you can hopefully see, there are these little water droplets on certain parts of the screen (ie: above the start button).

5.) After pressing start, go select Free Roam. After choosing a player, Dolphin will crash as soon as it brings up the course selection screen.

What version of Dolphin were you using (please test the latest version
from http://dolphin-emu.org/download first, 3.5 or 3.5-367 are not valid
tests!)?

Dolphin 3.5-1662

64 or 32 bit Dolphin?
64bit

What version of Dolphin used to work?
Don't know.

What Operating System were you using and what are your hardware
specifications?
Windows 7 Home Premium

64 or 32 bit Operating system?
64bit
