I tried altering all the [Core] settings and it still froze every time. Tried all gfx backends and various gfx settings. I tried getting some output, but nothing showed up in the console/logger, despite my log configuration. Not sure what I'm missing there.

To clarify, entering gameplay in Galleries. Looks like Story mode is slightly more stable, but only in OpenGL, and even then it'll still hang after moving forward for a few seconds half the time.

Anyway, I've spent hours tonight troubleshooting this, toggling every setting possible and trying various builds. Thankfully I tracked this down and funny enough it actually started a few days ago (just my luck). Let me know if you need anything else on this!

4.0-321 and lower = perfect
4.0-322 = hangs on boot screens (very unstable)
4.0-323-324 = perfect
4.0-325+ = hangs in gameplay

Revision that broke it:

Well it seems you've found another game which is broken since that revision. I posted this issue 6806 coming up to a week ago now confirming that revision causes the game Crash Nitro Kart to be completely unplayable too.

Hopefully now there's another game confirmed not working maybe the commit can be reverted or at least it's something to be looked into in the near future :)

Thanks!

My first thought was to mark this as invalid, but Skid closed the last one so he should decide if this should remain open.

Why do you guys not recognize a valid stability report that I spent hours working on. Not sure why we couldn't just open the last one.

Look, either the revision broke it or it simply uncovered some other bad code. Either way, this is a valid bug and the game crashes now. I don't know what more I can provide you. I provided data, broken build and it's been backed up by others. Not sure what's going on here...

Ok, well, regardless this issue has resolved itself. I tried 4.0-398 and it worked finally again. Tried 4.0-325 again and it crashed immediately. Both were with pure defaults (just extracted the files into an empty dir and launched game).

Please go ahead and close as fixed. Thanks!

You are right, Crash Nitro Kart now works again on 4.0-398 too. Seems a build somewhere along the line has fixed this issue. Thanks.

  • Status changed from New to Invalid

According to issue 6810 Skid wasn't able to reproduce it in 4.0-366, so it was apparently fixed between 4.0-325 and 4.0-336.

This is broken again - either by 4.0-400,401,402,403,404 and remains broken through to current revision (4.0-479). There's no posted revisions from 399-404 for me to check.

There's obviously some unstable code around whatever exception is thrown after entering the first Gallery level (exact same point every time).
