Description

Game title: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Game ID: GM4E01

Decription of problem: As soon as I got past the Title Screen, the entire emulator crashes upon trying to load the Main Menu.

Description of expectation: The Main Menu should have loaded and the emulator should have continued running.

Step-by-step process of replication:

  1. Load up the game as one normally would.
  2. You may skip the opening cutscene. It appears to make no difference.
  3. Upon loading the title screen, "Press Start" like the game says, then choose "Start Game."
  4. The screen will fade to black, which is normal, then the emulator will crash with the common Windows pop-up saying "Dolphin.exe has stopped working."

Tested on Dolphin 4.0-364(?) and 4.0-399.

Revision in which the problem did not exist: Dolphin 4.0.1; however, it seems this game experienced a similar problem upon the release of 4.0-315, so 4.0-314 may be the last that worked. Strangely, it said the issue was solved.

Why are you at first using the 32-bit version of Dolphin on a 64-bit OS?

The reason is because for whatever reason the 64-bit version results in one of those dumb arbitrary errors like 0xc00000001 or something like that.

Well, for whatever reason, the 64-bit builds work. I just tested the game on 4.0-407 x64 and it works just fine now.
