Description

Game Name?
Captain America Super Solder

Game ID?
H 74443

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
The game plays fine overall and the sound effects and music sound great, but the characters' voices start out sounding normal, then fall into extremely slow motion. Sometimes if you reboot and/or change the settings, the voices will go too fast, then normal, then slow down again. I've tried as many different config options as I can think of but have had no luck in fixing this. (copied from someone else who had the same issue posted elsewhere)

What did you expect to happen instead?
Speech should sound normal, especially since the rest of the audio is fine. I thought it was a bad copy of the game but I've used two separate versions and the same problem is happening.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Run the game in Dolphin.
  2. Skip past the intro and do the short training exercise - sometimes it starts there, sometimes not until the first level begins, where you hop up the steps and another character says a few lines about the barrier.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
Versions 3.5 and 4.0.2.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Not in this case. Identical problem on both versions.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 7
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
System Model Dell System XPS L502X

Available Physical Memory 1.59 GB
Total Virtual Memory 7.79 GB
Available Virtual Memory 5.11 GB

Are you using the 32 or the 64 bit version of Dolphin?
64 bit

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZONz9Nt8FA --> skip to the 2 minute mark for perfect example (speech speeds up, then slows down, then sounds almost normal).

Does changing the audio backend to OpenAL fix this?

Are you running the game in DSP HLE or DSP LLE mode?

As the game is running at 15fps at that point, slower audio would be expected, right?

I just played through this game recently and it was fine. It's just a limitation of your hardware or your audio config (in/out of Dolphin). Also, I think you're a pirate, so yeah.

Wesa, where exactly is that coming from? The link to the Youtube video was just an example of what's happening; it's not my video or my account. I own the game; I own a lot of games but I also travel for months at a time and I like to be able to play them on my computer when I'm away since it's just not possible to drag 4 different consoles and a huge collection of games around the world with me. It's pretty rude to jump in and make assumptions like that.

Skidau, I did try running the game in both modes and at different frame rates, and with a lot of different audio configurations but nothing is working. The same audio problem seems to be happening on a few other games too here and there so maybe it's just my computer. I've got a new laptop on the way so I'll see if that makes a difference. Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Status changed from New to Invalid
  • Issue type changed from Bug to Other
  • Relates to performance set to Yes

Likely caused by the emulator requiring a faster processor. This issue can be opened again if someone else reproduces it.
