Description

The recent Readme.txt overhaul added one purpose of Readme.txt: To document where files expected to be added by the user are supposed to be stored.

Readme.txt thus e.g. documents where custom textures are located. It makes sense to also say where certifications are supposed to be stored. I'd like to add that part, but someone needs to tell me which files specifically are required (expected filename + short description of the file + long description of what the file is used for).

Btw, if any other things like this should be added to the readme, I'm open for suggestions.

I guess I should be working on the readme stuff. I don't know a lot about the Wii-network files though, but if I'm given a general idea of what's meant to be done, I think I can handle it.

I'll take care of writing the documentation once I'm sure I'm doing something useful.

I made some changes to the readme in order to help this. Does this satisfy you, neobrain?

Sys Files

  • totaldb.dsy: Database of symbols (for devs only)
  • GC/font_ansi.bin: font dumps
  • GC/font_sjis.bin: font dumps
  • GC/dsp_coef.bin: DSP dumps
  • GC/dsp_rom.bin: DSP dumps
  • Wii/clientca.pem: Wii network certificate
  • Wii/clientcacakey.pem: Wii network certificate
  • Wii/rootca.pem: Wii network certificate

The DSP dumps included with Dolphin have been written from scratch and do not
contain any copyrighted material. They should work for most purposes, however
some games implement copy protection by checksumming the dumps. You will need
to dump the DSP files from a console and replace the default dumps if you want
to fix those issues.

Wii network certificates must be extracted from a Wii IOS. A guide for that can be found here

Do note I could also add why the Wii Network Certificates are useful (Required for online with the games that still have online + Custom servers)
