Description

Game Name?

Mega Man X: Command Mission

Game ID?

GXRE08

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

Periodically as you play, the music and some voice acting will temporarily stop. This can happen in a battle, and then fix itself when the battle is over, or continue on into the overworld. If it continues on into the over world, changing areas or fighting another battle will fix the audio.

This happens on both HLE and LLE audio, but I was not able to cause it to happen on JITIL (though, the game was somewhat buggy/slow on JITIL, so I didn't do quite as much testing.) The frightening part about this bug is that it can happen within minutes of starting up the game, or after 5 hours of playing. It took me forever to confirm it could happen in LLE audio!

While I at first thought this could only happen during battles, it turns out this can happen anywhere in the game. I've seen it happen in the overworld, menus, and even during a cutscene once. This is thankfully a non-fatal glitch, and hasn't caused any crashes, and the game is left fully completable with no other hiccups.

What did you expect to happen instead?

Well, I always expect the best of Dolphin Emulator. It's a good program, and we've been acquaintenances

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start up the game and basically start a new game. Skip cutscenes and what not.
  2. Play the game, maybe start up a battle then leave for a couple hours and come back. That has worked for me. Hell, it can even happen when not in a battle.
    3.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?

I can confirm it can happen in 4.0, 4.0-612, and 4.0-692. It takes too much time to confirm exactly which builds it happens on.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

Core i5 3570K, GTX 760, Windows 7 64bit

Are you using the 32 or the 64 bit version of Dolphin?

64bit

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

I have savestates with the glitch already started in 4.0-612 and 4.0-692, as well as a savefile where I've beaten the game. If there's anything else i can provide to help out, please let me know. The only reason I'm not posting them now is that they're on my other harddrive and it'd be easier to just add a comment from the other computer.

Additional Info: MegaMan Network Transmission has a similar, though much more problematic bug that has music stop. It was thought to possibly be a JIT issue in that game as well.

You should upload and attach the files you have for reproducing this. Also, an audio dump of it screwing up would be good.

Please make sure you use an external storage site though. ;)

JIT improvements seem to have fixed this. Will need to wait for someone else to do a full playthrough to know for sure.

  • Status changed from New to Fixed

This was a PPC_FP bug according to new testing. I cannot get it to reproduce on JITIL, and I cannot reproduce it after PPC_FP was merged. I hope this is correct, but as with any issue that's extremely rare, I really don't know.
