What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words. Paired real Wiimote won't detect MotionPlus on Linux, using Dolphin 4.0

What did you expect to happen instead? MotionPlus to be detected :)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

1. Pair Wiimote in Ubuntu
2. Start Wii Sports Resort (which requires the MotionPlus) or ANY game that requires another extension (e.g. nunchuk)
3. Prompt to connect extension never goes away

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? 4.0, from Ubuntu PPA, Saucy version.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work? These Wiimotes and nunchuks work fine on my old Windows machine, running r6505, though I never tested the MotionPlus in that version, it does mean that the hardware is good at the basic level of the extensions working.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU) Ubuntu 13.10, i5-2500k, HD3000, 16GB DDR3

Are you using the 32 or the 64 bit version of Dolphin? probably 64 if that's what's compiled by the PPA

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
