Description

Game Name?

Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party

Game ID?

RDDEA4

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

When you use a GameCube controller as a DDR Pad, the controls do not work properly. It constantly holds down, making the game impossible to play. Switching Dolphin to be set to DDR Pad rotates the Dpad right, making it very disorienting to play. On console, controls on the GameCube Controller work just fine, but I don't have a dance mat to test.

What did you expect to happen instead?

I expected to get some way to mimic the way console acts.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Start up the game with a GC controller plugged in and set to controller or dance mat
  2. Good luck navigating the menus or playing the game with it.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?

4.0-1816. 4.0.2.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?

No.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

Core i5 3570K, NVIDIA GTX 760, AMD Radeon HD 5850, Windows 7 x64

Are you using the 32 or the 64 bit version of Dolphin?

x64

There are two known variations of the dance mat on the GC and Wii. The first and most popular variation is the Konami DDR mat. This version of the mat is required for this game. This seems to be based on the GC controller and does not seem to be working in Dolphin.

The other variation is the Active Life series dance mat. This variation is used by the Active Life/Family Trainer series of games. This mat is not compatible with the Konami DDR mat. This is the mat that is currently emulated by Dolphin when "Dance Mat" is selected.

From the issue description, the GC controller in Dolphin might need some initial calibration values set.

Does this occur with the latest rev using the GC adapter?

I'm running 5.0-5037 and have the same problem with DDR Disney Grooves.

I have a real Konami dance mat plugged in to a Mayflash 4 port adapter in Wii U mode. There actually seem to be two different problems. The menu selection scrolls down continuously, like the poster above. The second problem seems to be that the mat is not detected as a mat; it shows up in the menu as a standard GC controller, and the mat is not shown as detected.

Is it possible to emulate the Konami dance mat? (So multiple buttons can be pressed at once.) From what I can tell there is no way to do this.

I can set up a build environment and try to fix this if someone would be willing to give me some direction.
