Some do; but the compatibility is oddly low. I don't know if it's a database problem or a dolphin problem.

Is this a regression? Has it worked on Wii games previously? If so, when?

MMIO (4.0-905) broke Gecko Codes for GCN by making Dolphin less dump. Someone needs to put in the GC codehandler for GC games. I can't say for Wii.

Oh, they got broken even worse very recently. Good catch.

The codes have never worked for Wii, but they have worked for Gamecube.

This is how it looks when I start up the game

Found the culprit; 4.0-1489 (https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/664496a2a80952e0e46379bf6f4c8ab4611eb9fb/) has made even less codes work on Wii games. As for most codes not working, that's a separate issue. We would want this fixed first. I'm using the unlock everything gecko code in brawl, and that's working in versions previous to 4.0-1489.

I will make a separate issue report for the low Gecko Code Compatibility rate later, but it's a much higher priority to fix regressions.

Can you test this build? Please make a copy of your current Dolphin folder and don't overwrite your normal Dolphin folder with this!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByQgqzsPdirYV1VTSTFQMlRkTFU/edit?usp=sharing

If this works, the problem should be very easy to fix. If it doesn't, don't do any crazy intensive testing, i made while i was very tired. That's also why i didn't test it myself yet.

All this does, is replace the codehandler.bin with the codehanderonly.bin(renamed to codehandler.bin), and change Dolphin to write the codes to codehandleronly.bin related offset. Both changes belong together, the wrong .bin with the wrong offset just won't work, so please only work on a copy of your Dolphin folder.

Still doesn't work and same problem happens. Tried on All three games and the same Issue happens.

Same, doesn't help with my issues with codes that I know worked either.

Just tried Gecko Codes On super Mario Galaxy 2 and they seem to work, so I'm a bit confused on whats going on.

I just tried the "Ultimate License Unlocker" from mdmwii in Mario Kart Wii PAL, and it just worked.

On the other hand i could reproduce Dolphin freezing for Wind Waker PAL with the Invisible Link code. But that's a known problem, because of the different code handler, maybe this will get fixed soon.

Which code does crash Mario Kart Wii? If you could name a code without any kind of modifier, i could try to track down what's wrong.

Also, Dolphin doesn't check how many codes are loaded right now and just cuts them off. Did you maybe try with many codes enabled at the same time?

I see a lot of people online mario kart using item hacks and lots more so I wonder why I can't even use the instant respawn code.

Probably people on console. And, I don't recommend cheating on wifi. The new servers are much more sensitive to cheating, and can easily ban you.

Is there any update on this issue? This is definitely a release blocker. Have any of the new builds helped?

Actually I just checked and this particular iteration of the issue is fixed for some reason.
