Emulator Issues #7437
closedFilesystem - can't extract directory
0%
Description
Game Name?
Any game
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
When you start Dolphin, there's a game list, you can right click on one and choose "Properties". A window will pop up, choose the Filesystem tab. It will list all the files on the disc image. Say I want to extract all of it in a folder on my computer, I'd right click on one of the files or folders and click "Extract All...", when I choose a folder to extract to, it will begin extracting all the files from a disc image to a folder of my likings. But, for example, I don't need to extract only one file, but rather, only a few files from one directory, an example being some game music. I could right click on each file, and extract them one by one, but there's an option called "Extract Directory", exactly what I need. So I right click the directory, choose to extract it, a window pops up giving me an option where I'd like to extract it, and after I select it, well, nothing happens. I check the directory on my computer, it's still empty. I could try this again, and even on another game, but it simply won't work and nothing is getting extracted.
What did you expect to happen instead?
There is, however, a version where it actually worked at one point. I got as far back as 3.5, yes, that version had extract directory actually working. What it would do is get all of the files from one directory and extract them to my computer.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Open Dolphin
- Right click a game from the selection
- Choose properties
- Change to the Filesystem tab
- Navigate to some folder or partition
- Right click it
- Select "Extract directory/partition"
- Choose a folder to extract to
- Wonder why it's not working
Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-1995
Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Not sure which version broke it, but I tried many versions and the 3.5 was the one that actually worked

I just fixed this but it seems like it's still funky with Wii games and nested directories. It's looking like a GUI problem. I'll look into it later.
