Description

For some reason, the slot that the GC-Microphone is plugged into is linked to the controller that controls the GC-Microphone. This is problematic in 4 player games like Mario Party 6/7, as well as confusing to the users. A microphone plugged into slot B will only respond to the mic button pushed on controller 2. This is incredibly unintuitive.

Rather than having the button configured per controller, why can't we just have a small configuration window for the GameCube Microphone that let us set the button to something else? Users may prefer a keyboard key, or maybe they'd want to set it to multiple controllers. Sure, we can technically do that in the current behavior, but it sure isn't easy. Also, from what I can tell there is no real documentation on this behavior and I discovered it thanks to Totalnerd saying. Then I didn't believe him until I actually tried it myself.

There are forum posts with people discovering this problem, and I think a simple configuration dialogue for the GC mic having its own dedicated input/button would be fine, as that's how it actually works, right?

I'd also be fine with writing a guide on the GC Microphone if we're not willing to change this crazy behavior.

You can set it to different controller's by right clicking the button to bind the microphone button.

I used to set my microphone binding to a key on my keyboard NOT being pressed so it would stay on constantly (although it probably doesn't work as well as you'd think).

I suggest then, why not have normal voice program options? Like hold a key down to talk, activate button on a certain sound threshold, continuous streaming?

I still think it should be less obtuse, I figured that out too.

Either way, volume options, push to talk options, etc. would all be nice.

Microphone configuration is still stupid. After trying to set it up today to play with some friends I found it impossible. Is there not a better way to do this?
