Game Name?
Mario Kart Double Dash
Game ID?
PM4E01
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
I am using 2 wired xbox360 controllers. Both Gamecube controller's slot is set to "standard controller", both of the controllers are registering perfectly and showing movement in the setup. Once the game start the 2nd(or 3rd or 4th) does not register in game.
What did you expect to happen instead?
the 2nd(or 3rd or 4th) controller to work properly.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]
1.Starting the game
2.NA
3.NA
Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0.2 x64 & 4.0.2 x86
Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Have not tried as of 8/5/14 Will try and update.
What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 7 64 Ultimate, I7-2760QM @2.4ghz, AMD FirePro M8900(FireGL) Mobility Pro
Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
[Upload big files to a hosting service and post links here!]
No Screenshots. Rest assured the only thing to show is the controller config and the config-gamecube/controllers 1 and 2 set to "standard controller"

Show the second controller's configuration when you're holding a button in the GC pad section.

Image shows the 2nd controller in config. The A, Z buttons pushed and Left analog stick is being moved to the left. Hope this helps

Okay, Thank you, I'm assuming Xinput 0 is the first controller? Try checking "Background Input" and trying to play the game.
Updated by mmassey over 10 years ago
Yes the first controller is Xinput 0, I have tried checking background input and just did again. Nothing has changed. Just to ease your mind, Here is an image of Xinput 0 which i also pressed the same buttons on the first controller as i did the 2nd while i took this image.

The only thing I could see causing problems would be if under the Options/Configure Section, going to the GC section only had one controller set to active. That's literally all I can think of that would cause this. I have used multiple Xbox 360 controllers on Windows via the wireless adapter, and I know that it works. If you were using the latest revisions or something, maybe it could have been a regression or something, but this doesn't make any sense.

These are Wired but I do not see why that would mean anything different. Also see attached showing both are set to Standard controller. Both sets are identical in config and options.

I wonder if it's an xinput bug vs dinput; I really have no idea at this point; none of the adapters I have left are xinput.

This is entirely irrelevant to the actual issue, but you should increase the dead zone on those sticks – otherwise you'll find your in-game characters slowly walking in some direction or your camera slowly drifting whenever you let go of a stick. I'd start at 10 and increase it until you can push the stick in any direction, let it go back to neutral, and not have a red dot in the box that shows the stick input.

Thank you, I will adjust accordingly. I hadn't noticed cause I haven't played yet because of this issue lol.

Do you have cheats enabled? You'd be surprised how many mysterious controller issues have been solved by turning cheats off. Give it a try.
Updated by Molosander over 10 years ago
Cheat have not been enabled, thank you for the suggestion though.
UPDATE: I have tried on a second PC with a different graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 600 series laptop) and am having the same problem.
For future information, the only things I have changed from the original settings(besides controller config and 2nd port set to "standard controller") are the audio and graphics. I have set both to the lowest requirement(the first option in each drop down bar).

Do you happen to have the custom Xbox 360 drivers controller drivers or something?
Updated by Molosander over 10 years ago
No they are direct from Microsoft. Also, the second PC I tried this on auto downloaded when I plugged them in, and the first I manually downloaded from Microsoft. There is no change.

Well let's do some experimenting. Try 3.5 and the latest dev build (4.0-3106 as of this writing) and see if they work.
And if you have a PC game laying around that works with two players, try that too.

- Status changed from New to Questionable
You made me get off my ass, setup my 360 controller adapters, find two 360 controllers, and get batteries for them. Considering my laziness, that's an accomplishment!
The bad news? It works fine for me; this is likely a problem with something you're doing. Now, I'm fairly sure that Dolphin isn't at fault here, I'd close the issue, but I'm not certain enough. Even if I do close it, I'd rather take this to the forums and continue discussion and search for the problem, and see if there's a way to prevent it for anyone else who may run into the setup issue (regardless of if it's a dolphin issue.)

We've pretty much confirmed this isn't Dolphin. I'm not opposed to helping over this problem, but this isn't really the proper venue for it. Head over to the forums and we'll see what we can do. Just make sure to bring the information provided here over to the post there.

Okay, just to make sure; this is two xinput devices, right? I didn't use them as dinput devices or anything.
Updated by Molosander over 10 years ago
I will be working until this evening, when I get off I will try the earlier version and the dev build.
Yes, both devices are xinput.
I will also create a post in the forums this evening. (Assuming the 2 other versions do not work.
