Description

Game Name?
Muramasa - The Demon Blade

Game ID?
RSFE7U

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
Emulator crashes to desktop without a warning prompt at all or error message, with panic handlers being on, the game has no other issues and runs full speed with Direct3D/opengl video backend and Xaudio2/openal

What did you expect to happen instead?
For the game not to crash at random intervals.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start Muramasa
2.Play the game normally from any point of the game for a couple of minutes (in my case it wasn't more than 4-5 minutes every single time)
3.Wait for the crash to happen and the emulator to crash to desktop without an error notice.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
Emulator started crashing said game at Dolphin 4.0-3587 and onwards, tested on the latest development revision 4.0-3612 and it happens as well, technical reproductivity of said problem is 10/10

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
tried 4.0-3583,4.0-3565, 4.0-3563, 4.0-3561 and they do not present this issue.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
E4400 Windows 7 x64 ATI HD5450

  • Status changed from New to Questionable

That really makes no sense, as 4.0-3587 shouldn't have functionally changed anything on default settings. In fact, D3D shouldn't be affected at all.

That of course makes it suspicious; as with random crashes(if it doesn't crash at the same spot every single time, it's effectively random in my book)

If this crash is related to the changes in 4.0-3587, then it should crash with any game, not just with Muramasa. Can you reproduce the crash with other games?

Tried wind waker, new super mario bros, contra rebirth, viewtiful joe 1 and 2 and castlevania rebirth to see if the crash is reproduced in the same fashion, the only game crashing besides muramasa is castlevania rebirth at random intervals in the 2nd stage never on the 1st randomly at any part of the stage but it is certain it always does.

Can't reproduce on my end with Muramasa. Could be a bad dump on your end.
I had two play sessions totaling over 10 hours of gameplay. Not once did Dolphin crash on me.

This is in Linux with Nvidia proprietary drivers.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Invalid

I know there could be some kind of underlying issue, but the issue as it is appears to be with some odd configuration with your computer.

Muramasa is working fine for others, and if there is an issue, I think you need to do more work on it.

Try enabling borderless fullscreen mode to restore the old behavior.

Tenatively invalidating.
