Description

Game Name?
All games

Game ID?
All games

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
Basically, I run any game and shortly after the "game" loads (IE after the strap screen) the entire program freezes. In 4.0.2, 4.0, and 3.5, the entire window freezes. In newer builds (IE 4.0-4250), it just stops rendering, and you can interact with the window, but once you try to "stop emulation" it stops responding entirely.

What did you expect to happen instead?
The program to run normally and not freeze.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Delete any settings files
  2. Download any version of Dolphin
  3. Open up graphics and change backend to OpenGL
  4. Play any game

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
3.5, 4.0, 4.0.2, 4.0-4250

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Nope

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 8, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz, NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 635M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM, version 331.65 NVIDIA drivers.

Using http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/ to see OpenGL information:
Renderer: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Vendor: Intel
Memory: 2112 MB
Version: 4.0.0 - Build 9.17.10.2875
Shading language version: 4.00 - Build 9.17.10.2875

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
For example, it freezes here in Super Mario Galaxy 2 http://imgur.com/cpTuxhU

Try updating your GPU driver to 344.75.

Same thing happens, it freezes shortly after the "game" launches.

Try deleting your shadercache folder.

Still no change. Both if I delete the shadercache and the entire settings folder.

Be careful with the last comment. This would also delete all of your save files...

Which of your GPU is used by dolphin? The only msg to trust in the OSD on dolphin startup.

I deleted my last comment to be less dangerous advice.
Please try latest version. This issue was likely fixed in PR #1650.

Nope, freezes in same place/same amount of time in 4654 as in 4250. In Paper Mario TTYD, for example, if I press A as soon as it registers to move on from the health screen, it only makes it to the Dolby screen before freezing.

  • Status changed from New to Questionable

Considering it's happening in every build spanning across eras for you, I'm going to have to guess this is an issue on your end. I don't have any way of testing/verifying things with my machine though, as OpenGL works fine for me.

Someone else will have to look into it, I guess.

So I ran Dolphin in Visual Studio debug and this is what it spit out, plus a lot more:
First-chance exception at 0x0000000020EAF5A8 in DolphinD.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x000000014BFF8000.
