Emulator Issues #7881
closedGame Not Found during netplay
0%
Description
Game Name?
Any game.
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
When my brother connects to my netplay server and I start a game, he gets a "Game not found!" error before it starts on his end, before dolphin launches the last game he played on his end. Both of us have the same exact copy of the game that we're trying to play. We think this is causing desync.
What did you expect to happen instead?
For the error not to appear.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Host a netplay server
- Have someone join
- Start any game
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-4175, 4.0-4231, 4.0-4250, and other earlier versions.
Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
No.
What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
None that I know of.

Yes, we had the same versions of dolphin in each test, and yes, we checked the md5 sums of each game and confirmed that they are in fact the same.

If it's a Wii game, if one of you have a save and the other one doesn't you will get this error.

We both have our memory cards removed.

This happens for lots of games. Specific ones we have tried include Brawl, Melee, Project M, Kirby Air Ride and Mario Party 6-8.

The only time I've been able to reproduce something like this is when the gamelist isn't properly showing up, or I don't have a Wii save and my friends do.

- Status changed from New to Invalid
I've been unable to reproduce this for quite some time. Again; the only known way I've seen is with forgetting to put games in the gamelist, or having different saves in the wii version. If you want to make an issue report for the fact that a Wii game with and without a save are identified as different games on netplay, please do that.
As for this, I can't seem to reproduce this with properly dumped ISOs and netplay sessions. Sorry.
