Description

Game Name?

-Any Wii title

Game ID?

  • Any Wii GameID

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

  • Any Wii game pauses when I use the fullscreen shortcut.

What did you expect to happen instead?
For the emulator to enter and exit fullscreen without pausing the game.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

    1. Don't be a Pro, a Ninja or a computer enthusiast.
    2. Use default settings on a keyboard that does not have separate keys for "Return" and "Enter".
    3. Load up any Wii game.
    4. Using a keyboard. When a person uses the shortcut for fullscreen ("Alt" + "Enter") with default settings, This means that "Enter" is mapped to Start(Or home in this case?), the game will pause.

It will work as intended if the user presses the shortcut really quickly. But I did a quick and dirty test with RL people and it appears that they cannot do it fast enough to stop the game pausing most of the time.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?

  • Latest.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?

  • No.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

  • AMD R9 290, Intel Pentium G3258, 16 GB Ram.

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

  • On my keyboard "Return" and "Enter" are one key.

Change the controller configuration? I ran into this too; I just never considered it an issue.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Won't fix

Change the hotkey settings in Options > Hotkey Settings to change the Alt-Return fullscreen setting, or change the controller configuration in the controller settings. Either case solves this problem.

Considering that alt-enter is universal and enter for start is also universal, I think this minor annoyance of changing one of those is worth keeping to the universal standards as defaults.

No that won't be the solution.
Yes these are universal defaults but consider that other applications do not have this issue.

Neither of these will be changed in a fix.
This is an issue, albeit minor.

  • Status changed from Won't fix to Questionable

You can fix this yourself, go into the controller configuration and right click the home button, and make it so that there is a condition that ALT is not pressed when you hit enter. Maybe we should actually do that by default?

Actions #5

Yes, I think this should be the default behavior.
