Description

HLE sounds a bit flat, where as LLE has a little bit of screechiness to it. If I had to bet on which one was more correct, I'd say the LLE variant.

Following this save, you can go straight north in every single room and get to a convenient laser gate. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/484730/01-GZLE-GoNorthEveryRoomUntilLazers.gci

Try rotating the camera around it and stuff.

Personally I'd bet on HLE being correct here, LLE sounds terrible.

http://delroth.net/laser-gate-lle.wav (seek to 110s) <-- LLE, screeching.
http://delroth.net/laser-gate-nzhle.wav <-- New Zelda HLE, no screeching.

I guess we need someone to test on real HW.

Heard both and the screeching with lle seems that of something burning.

That's what I thought too.

this was said on IRC, placing here to record it

I listened to both of them on my super sound system, and from what it sounds like, the laser is supposed to be a constant tone. On HLE, to my ears, it sounds as it should. On LLE, it sounds like there's a static almost interlaced into the tone. It doesn't sound right at all.

Honestly, I think HLE is the accurate thing here. Lasers are commonly done with constant tones like that.

Confirmed: patterns 2 and 3 are not actually constant and are generated by the UCode at the start of every frame. This is what is used for the screeching. NZHLE is not implementing that yet.
