Description

Game Name? ID?
Various, recently tested G8ME01

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
When using stereoscopic 3D mode (Nvidia 3D vision) and configuring 3D effect to your liking, the left and right sides will expose to what games don't normally display outside of 4:3 or 16:9

What did you expect to happen instead?
Stay within game's 4:3/16:9 borders for both eyes.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Enable 3D
  2. start a game
  3. play for 30~60 seconds should be enough

For Paper Mario TTYD [G8ME01] I use ~25% in depth and ~60% in convergence. I can only see graphical glitches in left side in Paper Mario [G8ME01].

I think this is to be expected? You can try using the widescreen hack to make it a little less awkward, but, some games won't work well with it, that's to be expected.

I'll admit that this is more of a enhancement request than the real issue.

Using 'free look' will do fine but it's bit inconvenient to do it over and over on each boot and on position reset.

This issue can be fulfilled with expanded use with 'free look' such as bookmark various positions and set one as default exclusively for 3D mode.

Actually, that's a fairly good idea. Maybe we could combine freelook with 3D and widescreen hacks to fix this kind of issue.

Also using Widescreen hack making it worse for G8ME01 in both non-3D and 3D mode.

Weird, it seems that the camera moved to left once I pressed Ctrl+T with Nvidia 3D Vision. That never happen in another 3D mode...

Here's what happening:

When forcing 16:9 on Paper Mario TTYD that only support 4:3 and when Nvidia 3D Vision is enable and pressed Ctrl+T, the camera will move to left. The free look will fix it but, meh, not worth the hassle. I will probably make new issue for it later.

I will test on another game and those that supports 16:9.

Right now this issue will only focus on making the both sides, outside of 16:9 and 4:3, are stay out of sight in 3D mode.

Yeah, this isn't something that can be fixed. The left/right sides thing. I don't know about the camera being moved to the left though; I never had an issue with that. I'll keep your new issue open, of course, just closing this one.

The sides are annoying enough for me in some games to make an issue report about it. I sworn that it's going to be super easy to fix.

I prefer to not use freelook because it will cause close objects way too close to the camera, huring my eyes during viewing in stereoscopic 3D mode.

Can you put this issue back to questionable?

There's no way to fix it without per-game widescreen hacks or a better general widescreen hack.

There is a level bar in 3D setting for depth and convergence. I imagine it would be simple to add one more level bar in 3D setting that will control width and fill in screen so the sides are ultimately out of sight.

Doesn't the 3D setting already able to save for per games?

Can you describe what it's like to have widescreen hack? I know what it's like but how is it relate to sides in stereoscopic 3D viewing?
