Description

Game Name?

Kirby Air Ride

Game ID?

GKYE01

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

A small area in the City Trial map has issues when upscaled to a resolution above original. It is largely dependent on the angle at which it is viewed, but I have attached screenshots that I think show what I mean perfectly.

What did you expect to happen instead?

A small, white "web" of rays on the ground aren't seen.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Go to the City Trial game mode and enter Free Run
  2. Stand in between a green and orange building right of the initial spawn point with a blue building at about 11 o' clock.
  3. Move around the part where the brown bricks meet the grey concrete. Certain angles are more dramatic than others, but I found a pretty good one on the screenshots.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?

I always try to remain up to date on all the development builds. These screenshots were taken in 4.0-1590.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?

I have seen this issue on many other builds, so it's save to say that older version have shown no difference.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

Windows 7 x64
Intel i7 4770
nVidia Geforce GTX 760 (Gigabyte)

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Sorry if I didn't get the terminology right. I was torn between if "vertices" or "rays" were the right word to use. Geometry isn't my strong suit.

  • Status changed from New to Questionable

Some Enhancements break/change certain affects; there may not be anything that can be done about this.

I had a feeling it boiled down to that. But then again, big revelations often come in the form of tiny oddities.

While I'm here, I might as well say that I love all the work the Dolphin Team does. I constantly find myself refreshing the download page daily just to download the latest development version and read the patch notes, even if most of the details tend to go over my head.

for what it's worth; I checked this out, seems to be the same as https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Twilight_Princess_%28GC%29

Thin lines + AA/AF/High IR seem to get killed.

I'm guessing that means that this bug is doomed to the to-do list? Oh well. Felt I had to report it anyway.

What can I say? I love Dolphin and KAR, so helping both out was natural.

Well, I'll at least grab a graphics dev and see what they have to say. I mean, just because we say wontfix/questionable doesn't mean it won't get fixed. An open source project can have literally anyone can submit pull requests.

Requesting Degasus to at least check this out and see if we should keep the issue open.

fifo log?

A fifo log for something this small and easily reproducible? Okay...

Should I attach it to a post or upload it somewhere.

Just any upload service please.

The reason we ask for fifologs is because a lot of our developers don't have the games. A fifolog lets us see the scene without having the game.

Cool.

Did the fifolog I posted yesterday work? It's my first time ever making one.

You can test them; put Dolphin into single core and make sure XFB is disabled and load it up. You can open it or drag it into Dolphin.

I just opened it. Looks good.

It even looks like Kirby's pointing right at it!

If you want me to get any more fifo's of the web, just leave a post and I'll find another good angle of it.

Turns out it WAS an effect of an issue.

https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/2031 fixed this. Thanks degasus!

And I play some KAR today and it's broken again.

What's weirder is that 5445 is broken too.

FifoCI worthy material?

Guess not...

fifoci only runs at 1x IR without enhancements, so I don't think we can do much.
