Description

Game Name?
Secret files Tunguska

Game ID?
RTUPKM
(Pal iso)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
After i compressed the game with dolphin the ingame cinematics between chapters are jerky with fps drops and sound cuts with auto framelimit, yet by pressing tab there is no performance issue, neither there are problems using an uncompressed iso.

What did you expect to happen instead?
No performance issue with compressed isos when viewing ingame videos.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]
1.Play the game until the end of a chapter cinematic shows up that shows the player traveling between regions and watch the unstable framerate using a compressed iso.
2.
3.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0- 5954 x64, 4.0 - 1995 x64

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Haven't found, but i only tested the revs mentioned above.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
2500k, 960 gtx, windows7 x64

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

A note that i don't know if it is useful, this game probably uses bounding box emulation.

I was going to blame Dolphin's scrubbing for modifying the disc, but 4.0-1995 didn't have CAV emulation or even seek times... Not sure what's going on.

Is it perhaps more demanding, harddrive limitation? I really don't know what to do about this.

To be frank it is just this one game that i have noticed this, probably something related to compression. Also when compressing the game it took longer than usual.

Tested this in 4.0-6492 both uncompressed and compressed and game ran fine throughout the intro sequence. Ran through first level and hitting 60fps no issue all the way up to the apartment with no problem.

Disk activity was about the same peaked at 3.4MB/sec compressed and 10MB/sec uncompressed, I ran tests from my Intel 550 SSD.

The problem was afterwards in the cut scenes that show you moving by plane to siberia and other places here.

Can you provide a save state? I'm seeing an issue but only when recording with Fraps with the compressed image where I'm seeing video and audio stuttering at random times.

Going to copy the images over to a standard HD and test again tonight, I have some captures of the issue I'll upload if I can reproduce it without Fraps.

When you say in-game cinematics I assume you mean FMV, they're not within engine from what I can tell.

Yes i mean fmv, especially those that show you traveling between places by plane.

Tested with compressed ISO on my external HDD and cut scene plays fine without any skipping, captured this in Fraps.

Save state: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxG_EwmSZPw
My testing: http://youtu.be/tipWwIRjVwk

In my testing I got the bug at about 7 seconds, thats the kind of issue I was seeing but as above can't say it's not just Fraps doing it. I had it happen a few other times (Seemed to be during scene changes but not always) but I thought it was a Fraps issue so I never kept them.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Invalid

This problem doesn't make much sense from a technical perspective, and nobody else seems to be able to reproduce it, so I'm closing this issue report. We've had some significant performance improvements to the disc reading code since this issue report was created, too. Please comment if you still are having the problem and would like the issue to be re-opened.
