Emulator Issues #8616
closedNetplay Instantly Desyncs With Nunchuk
0%
Description
Game Name?
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (PAL)
Game ID?
RLGP64 - LEGO Star Wars
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
When trying to use netplay with 2 Emulated Wiimotes each using Nunchuck extension, desync always occurs within the first 30 seconds of loading the game. The desync is sometimes noticed even at the main menu, but can quickly be seen by starting a new game and moving around.
What did you expect to happen instead?
Gameplay to be synchronized for client and host
What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]
- Setup two portable Dolphin directories with identical settings (including same Cache and Wii NAND).
- Enable two Emulated Wiimote controllers each with Nunchuck extension.
- Host a netplay session from the first Dolphin instance and join the session on the second Dolphin instance.
- Assign Wiimote 0 to first instance (host) and Wiimote 1 to the second instance (client). Disable all other pads/wiimotes.
- Start netplay session. If a desync has not be noticed by the main menu, start a new game and move around and swing the lightsaber. The objects in the starting room are destructible and drop currency that is picked up. The currency picked up in one instance will not match the currency picked up in the other instance, and player positions will likely vary between the instances.
When testing, the desync was noticed with 2 instances on the same machine and across a network to another computer.
Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
dolphin-master-4.0-6490-x64, dolphin-master-4.0-6482-x64, dolphin-master-4.0-6270-x64
Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Using dolphin-master-4.0-4784-x64, the desync does not occur (not sure what the latest version that does not desync is, but this version worked correctly).
What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600)
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Dolphin's Experimental Wiimote Netplay does not support nunchucks. Sorry :(
I'll leave this open for now until I get a proper issue about that done.

I appreciate the information.
I did some more testing, and I was able to narrow down the last working dev build. No desyncs are encountered using 4.0-5438, but they begin to appear as described starting in 4.0-5441 and in all following that I tested.

Can you keep playing? I'm going to assume that the game won't actually sync up beyond that. Wiimote Netplay was never successfully implemented beyond base Wiimotes, so I'd be really surprised if it does work.

Ok, you are correct. It stayed in sync for approximately 20 minutes before finally desyncing. Thanks for the help.

Does this work better in the most recent development version now?

- Status changed from New to Fixed
I've gotten Netplay + Nunchucks to work since. It's not easy, but, it works.
