Description

Game Name: Project M (SSBB mod)

The game desyncs within the first match when playing Project M under Linux using the suggested build (6554), making netplay unusable. Windows build does not desync. I have played with 4 different experienced people to make sure it's not because of the opponent. Dolphin config settings were consistent with what other players use, as per http://www.smashladder.com/blogs/view/25js/2015-06-18/project-m-netplay-guide.

I've played netplay with the same ISO before with the old netplay build (652) with no desync issues.

I'm running Archlinux 64 bit, Intel 3570k CPU, NVidia 660 GTX GPU, using the official gamecube adapter + controller with the built in driver support.

I'm not accepting bug reports from Smashladder on here. The main issue in this particular issue is that you didn't try latest master, you're following a third party guide, using a third party mod. And you're comparing it to a non-master branch.

The reason you're likely desyncing is because we synchronize less settings in master than a specialized, dedicated branch for netplay. If you want to report a proper bug, use latest master at the time, which literally has a desync checker built in. If you desync on frame 0/1, that means that you have settings that differ at boot. But, you probably don't want to use latest master because smashladder sticks to arbitrary builds that they like to use.

Fair enough. Even so, it might be worth being aware of potential issues that may still persist in master. I guess I'll report whether the issue is still there when smashladder syncs up to master at some point.

The thing is that I can be almost sure that it's user error at this point, because there's been so much testing on all OSes between smashladder mods and several dolphin developers.

Potentially, but I've seen multiple people (on Linux) mention they can't play without desync. That's what triggered me to post the issue. I noticed the issue long ago but didn't bother posting it here until I saw several people mention it over time. In no case has another user replied to those posts saying they had it working for themselves, but of course, that doesn't mean much at all.

Ask Doppler12 on Smashladder, they're hte person I tested with the Wii NAND sync and Linux.
