Game Name?

Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Super Mario Sunshine, (presumably all)

Game ID?

GLME01, GM4E01, GMSE01

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

Dolphin will not properly exit fullscreen. Program will not exit at all, requiring computer be turned off and on via power button. This only happens when using Windows 10, Intel Iris 6100 graphics, and the OpenGL renderer.

What did you expect to happen instead?

Alt+Enter should exit fullscreen, and Dolphin should behave like a regular application. This happens when using Direct3D renderer.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Start game in fullscreen mode using Windows 10, Intel Iris 6100 graphics, and the OpenGL renderer
  2. Attempt to leave fullscreen by pressing Alt+Enter
  3. Attempt to return to Windows without power-cycling the computer

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?

dolphin-stable-5.0-rc-5-x64
dolphin-stable-5.0-rc-7-x64

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?

Have not tested

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

Windows 10 Home 64bit, Intel Core i7-5557U @ 3.10 GHz, 8.0 GB or DDR3 RAM, Intel Iris 6100 graphics

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Alternatively you can unplug and replug video cable from your monitor. I have similar experience as this but I'm on GTX 670 and forgot what kind of issue I've encountered.

Another issue that tends to happen with me is that when you Alt+Enter out of full-screen, Dolphin may stay in full-screen and you have to Alt+Tab out and stop emulation to fix it, which happens with both regular and borderless full-screen.

I'm unable to reproduce any of the issues described here.

I've managed to find a work-around: exiting the emulator by pressing ALT+F4 ENTER ALT+F4 ENTER. This returns me to Windows without having to power cycle the computer, though it is still impossible to leave fullscreen as described above.

Some additional info: Video and audio output through HDMI, video resolution 1920x1080. This problem occurs at native internal resolution and 2x.

I can track this down to Dolphin 4.0-6549: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/1ed38e901ef2aebb738d2e994fea8b7b6085ec03/

@robotman...@gmail.com Would you agree that the above introduced this issue?

Accept I don't get a black screen, I just get the unable to leave fullscreen bit.

To ,

I've just tested version 4.0-6549 and the one directly before it (4.0-6546) for comparison. Here is what happened on my machine:

OpenGL renderer:

4.0-6546

ALT+Enter doesn't work at all. ALT+F4 doesn't work as expected. ALT+F4 ENTER ALT+F4 ENTER returns me to Windows.

4.0-6549

ALT+Enter shrinks the rendered window to the bottom left of the screen for a fraction of a second. It then instantly returns to fullscreen. Emulation continues all the while. ALT+F4 doesn't work as expected. ALT+F4 ENTER ALT+F4 ENTER returns me to Windows.

Direct3D renderer

4.0-6546

ALT+Enter needs to be pressed twice, and then functions as expected.

4.0-6549

ALT+Enter needs to be pressed twice, and then leaves Dolphin running in a maximized window on a blank (black) screen. This emulation window can be closed with the window controls at the top-right, leaving the Dolphin UI still running.

Last question: does the following change behaviour?

Create a text file named "portable" in the dolphin 4.0-6546 and 4.0-6549 folders.

To ,

With portable.txt:

OpenGL renderer:

4.0-6546

When pressing ALT+Enter to go into fullscreen mode, screen goes black and emulation continues, but is only rendered in a small fraction of the top-left of the screen. Pressing ALT+Enter again makes the screen flicker, but has no other effect. The rendered emulation window never fills the entire screen. Must use ALT+F4 ENTER ALT+F4 ENTER to return to Windows, but the Dolphin UI remains open.

4.0-6549

Pressing ALT+Enter sends the application into fullscreen. Pressing ALT+Enter again sends the rendered emulation area into a small fraction of the screen at the bottom-left, which is otherwise black. Pressing ALT+Enter just toggles these two states. Must use ALT+F4 ENTER ALT+F4 ENTER to return to Windows, but the Dolphin UI remains open.

Direct3D renderer

4.0-6546

Pressing ALT+Enter makes the screen go black for a long moment, but the application does not go fullscreen, no matter how many times this is tried.

4.0-6549

Pressing ALT+Enter sends the application into fullscreen. Pressing ALT+Enter again has no effect. Using ALT+F4 to end emulation works normally.

Sounds like your drivers are bugged, go to Graphics > Advanced and enable borderless fullscreen. That should solve the issue for you.

Thank you for the advice ,
I just tried this in 5.0-rc-13 with the OpenGL renderer. It didn't fix the problem for me though.
