Game Name? Wii Super Paper Mario

Game ID? R8PE01

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

In chapter 3-4 Fort Francis, after entering the passcode (the 2323 one) to get one of the keys, you enter an elevator, and while riding in the elevator the emulator experiences a massive slowdown, going from a stable 60fps to a stable 8 FPS. The slowdown ends when you get off, but comes back when you have to go back down. The elevator going between the top floor and Merlin's house in flipside also has minor FPS hiccups. The slowdowns don't have any other effect, and don't prevent story progression.

What did you expect to happen instead? It to remain at 60 fps.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Go to level 3-4
  2. Go to the lower security robot that asks you to authorise yourself, the code will 2323. Enter the elevator that appears
  3. The game will have significantly decreased (but stable FPS) for the duration of the elevator ride.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? 4.0.7221

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU) Windows 8.1 Intel Core i7-4770 @3.40GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645

workaround: use D3D as your renderer instead of OpenGL

I'm already using D3D

Lower internal resolution and whatnot. Bounding box is very demanding to emulate properly, and raising the internal resolution will make it even more demanding.

On my GTX 760; it starts to lag at 2x IR, and 3x IR is simply not an option.

Can't you just check Disable Bounding Box?
