Description

Game Name?
Super Mario Galaxy US and JP, Super Mario Galaxy 2 US, Kirby's Return to Dream Land US. Those are the games I currently have Dolphin saves for.

Game ID?
RMGE, RMGJ, SB4E, SUKE.

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
When I chose Export All Wii Saves, I got "Found 4 save files" then "Successfully exported 0 saves to C:/Users/<me>/Documents/Dolphin Emulator/private/wii/title/". Indeed, when I checked that directory, I only saw the save files from a previous export that I had done in the past (with an older Dolphin version).

What did you expect to happen instead?
"Successfully exported 4 saves" and actually having my saves exported.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Have some Wii save files on Dolphin. Go to Tools -> Export All Wii Saves. I haven't tested whether the specific games make a difference.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
Dolphin 4.0-7365-x64.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Dolphin 4.0-5732-x64 does not have the issue; I was able to successfully export my save files with the exact same games.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Please narrow it down to the build that brought forth the regression if possible.

4.0-6512-x64 has the issue.
4.0-6502-x64 works.

Additional testing:

  • Removing the Wii/title/00010000 subfolder corresponding to RMGJ (Super Mario Galaxy JP) did not fix the issue. With just RMGE, SB4E, and SUKE, still 0 saves exported.
  • Removing all existing subfolders from private/wii/title didn't fix it.
  • Removing the existing private folder didn't fix it.
  • In 6512 and 7365, if I actually start up a game and THEN Export All Wii Saves, it works. Doesn't matter whether the game is still running, I just need to start up a game after starting up Dolphin. So the bug only occurs when you haven't run any games yet.

Another update: Tools -> Import Wii Save has a very similar issue. The messages make it look like it's running fine:

"Warning! it is advised to backup all files in the folder: /title/00010000/524d474a/data/ Do you wish to continue?" Yes
"/title/00010000/524d474a/data/banner.bin already exists, overwrite?" Yes
"/title/00010000/524d474a/data/GameData.bin already exists, overwrite?" Yes
"Successfully imported save files"

But nothing actually gets imported.
Just like the export issue, 6512 has this import issue while 6502 does not, and the import issue only exists if I haven't run any games since starting Dolphin.

The issue only exists before running any games? Sounds like it's the same as issue 8720, then.
