Description

Game Name?

All tested (The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Disc, Mario Kart Double Dash, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, Paper Mario, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II:Rogue Leader, etc.).

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)

  • RMCE01
  • GM4E01
  • RSBE01
  • GSWE64
  • etc.

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

  • 5350501f4df6b6a277f1f9a75e27ea20
  • 8f4b2434444a89ae345ecba99d2ac58d
  • d18726e6dfdc8bdbdad540b561051087
  • 0bf391bee90da09d6042016d23e7a9b1
  • etc.

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Upon trying to exit the game while in fullscreen mode (under OpenGL) by hitting the escape key, everything except the mouse freezes, and remains frozen until I put the computer in standby and re-open it. Even ctrl+alt+delete does not exit the game (although it makes the screen flash to black instead).

Taking a screenshot displays what the screen should be showing, rather than what it actually is showing.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start game (with OpenGL backend)
  2. Enter fullscreen mode
  3. Hit the escape key

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

I only tested OpenGL unless stated otherwise.

Not working:

  • 4.0-8575 (D3D tested and working)
  • 4.0-8570
  • 4.0-8185
  • 4.0-7400
  • 4.0-3258
  • 4.0-2472
  • 4.0-2319 (D3D tested and working)
  • 4.0-2299 (D3D tested and working)
  • 4.0-2289
  • 4.0-2286

Working:

  • 4.0-595 x64 and x86
  • 4.0-1953
  • 4.0-2200
  • 4.0-2250
  • 4.0-2263

The 4.0-2263 and 4.0-2286 builds are currently on page 118. https://dolphin-emu.org/download/list/master/118/

Unfortunately I couldn't narrow it down any more than that.

Intel HD 515
8 GB LPDDR3 1866 MHz

13.3" 3200x1800 touchscreen display (250% scaling)
Fanless

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

I cannot reproduce this issue on other computer models, but it happens consistently on separate units of this computer model, even on a fresh install. Haven't tested any other Core M or Skylake models though.

If there's anything that I can supply that will help, just let me know.

Scaling settings appears to have an affect on it. I dropped to 100%, and upon exiting it only filled up a corner of the screen instead of the full screen. https://i.imgur.com/pEyOSnE.jpg

This issue does not seem to affect external displays (tested in mirrored, extended, and external only modes), but does still affect the laptop's display when an external display is plugged in.

Please try the Borderless Fullscreen option. It can be found in the Advanced tab of the graphics options.

I enabled it on the 8575 build, and it appears to have the same issue.

I just noticed that if I do not stop the emulation, I am unable to re-enter the game (the screen remains black, despite there still being sound, if I make it full-screen again), but there are no problems with closing it through the escape button then.

Any update on this?

Removing from current as it seems to be a driver issue.

Similar (possibly same) issue here: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/9119

I have run into this issue a number of times as well and as far as I know it has not yet been fixed. I can do some testing if there is any additional info that would help solve what is going wrong here.

  • Status changed from Accepted to Fixed

WX has been replaced by Qt, which should mean this issue no longer happens.
