Emulator Issues #9334
closedTexture cache accuracy safe as default setting?
0%
Description
By default the texture cache accuracy is set to "fast". Some games only work correct if you select "safe".
I was wondering if it does matter, if you choose "safe" or "fast" for playing. So i play since two months wit the "save" setting wii & gamecube games and i doesn't notice some slowdown in games. So i was wondering if you can set the texture cache accuray per default to "safe", maybe interessting for the 5.0 version.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?
4.0-8764

The impact is larger for weaker CPUs and some games trigger it more than others.
The impact is also much larger in single core mode.

Ok. I thought i would see a little slowdown with one or two fps in some game. But doens't noticed something. With single core i don't have tested it, maybe you are right.

Currently the way things are done is: Fast texture cache accuracy is the default, and every game known to require a different setting has this setting forced via ini file.
PS: So if you know a game that is broken on fast, please report it, so the ini files can be updated

Save texture cache is used for master pieces in super smash brawl and in monopoly for correct video playing. Should that games automatically set it to safe? I thought i must set it manually.

- Status changed from New to Won't fix
The performance hit is too big, even if safe texture cache is getting faster.
This will all be moot with Locking if it's ever done.
