Description

[Kirby Air Ride]

[GKYE01]

[bd936616ba7f998d8d0a1eb3f553b634]

[While playing the game the audio will restart and start to loop, and a few seconds after playing the audio will just restart again. It usually stops when the music changed again. Only in City Trial Mode]

What steps will reproduce the problem?

[1. Wait until an event happens and it has a chance of happening, Get the Hydra or the Dragoon and It might happen. It might happen at the beginning of the round]

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

[I am using 4.0-9120]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

[Cpu AMD FX 8350 eight core processor GPU Nvidia GTX 960 RAM 4 gigabytes OS Windows 10

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

[I put an audio file with a recording of the bug]

Please check to see if this issue was present on older builds, and maybe check and see if this can happen on console too.

I spent a few hours testing to see which dolphin build last had the audio working. After several hours I have figured out that either
4.0-8729
4.0-8727
or
4.0-8725
Is the build that the bug comes from. 4.0-8721 is the build that I know does not have the bug, I tested it for two hours.

4.0-8729 -> https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/991d3f6f9691919e9ae0a53c5806caaf4e26b9de/

is the only one that makes sense of those. Can you confirm 8727 works?

I cannot reproduce the issue in 4.0-8729; I was playing it few 6 rounds of City Trial. I use single core and not dualcore, that's the only thing I can think of that could effect it.

This issue will fall out of Milestone: Current if we can't get a direct answer to what is causing it or what build is the actual cause of the regression.

Removing Milestone: Current for now. We can put it back if we get more information.

I've kept trying to reproduce the bug but I can't no matter how hard I try. I played it on netplay with my cousin for several hours and didn't get the bug once.

I also can report that this glitch exists in some form. The 30 seconds left time alarm had just gone off and then the music changes, as it does when that happens, then it started looping. It has only happened to me once. I am playing on 5.0, using High Level Audio Emulation, a Broadwell 5500U processor, and an embedded Radeon R7 graphics card.

The only thing different than how I normally play was that I had the master dolphin volume turned down (30%).

I tried again, and it did not happen. I give you so much information because honestly, I cannot think of why this might occur and be seemingly not reproducible.

Oh, and my OS is Windows 10 Home.

Also, 6 GB of RAM (my apologies for multiple posts, I didn't realize that you couldn't go back and edit). The only thing that connects my report with the original report is Windows 10 being used. This is very unusual. With two very different set ups getting the same odd bug, it can't be just a coincidence.

I now have footage of this glitch occurring, this is the second time that this has happened, and I play this game a lot. I can't remember this ever happening on console. I will post the sound of the 30 seconds left music looping here, I hope it at least demonstrates the problem, sorry that the recording is kind of quiet.

There was a similarity between the two times that it occurred for me, from a gameplay perspective. I was in/leaving the Electric Lounge area of the city, but that might be a total coincidence.

Considering how rare it is, I don't know if we can actually do anything about it. Not only would I have to reproduce it myself in an environment that allows me to consistently see it and debug further, but I also have to know it cannot happen on console. I've dealt with a lot of game bugs.

The best (worst?) case scenario that it's some kind of CPU bug that just gets fixed on its own with more and more accurate emulation.

Yeah, I know, with how inconsistent it seems, there really isn't much that can be done. I just posted whatever I could to help out, because it is frustrating to not know in the future whether or not something is fixed because the root cause is never determined. It happens so infrequently that who would know if it even is fixed come Dolphin 6.0 or whenever? Oh well, I am going to try testing on console to see if I can find it happening. I have not had looping in the other occasions that the original poster reported, so that makes it even more irritating.

It's either a random game bug, a random Dolphin bug (dcache, perhaps?) or something else. There's no way to narrow it down yet.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Fixed

Since this issue had been posted, we discovered a bug where audio could read past the loop point in rare cases. This should be fixed now.

If it's not... then it's honestly too rare for me to debug.
