Description
Game Name?
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)
RSBE01
MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)
30f136abd086f734bc2a795e8b10065e (edited ISO, works fine on both Dolphin and real Wii)
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
This issue rarely occurs but I finally remembered to get a FIFO log for it! For unknown reasons, Dolphin will raise some invalid reads and then fail to display a portrait in game. I believe it always occurred with the 4th player's portrait (above the name "Vaati" in my FIFO log). After the match ends and without making any changes to the character selection, the problem is no longer present during the next match. I have never seen this issue occur on a real Wii. It is possible that this issue is related to #8864 (SSBB Alloc Buffer failed). If someone can give me more information as to why this is occurring I can investigate it further.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
Unknown
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?
Likely all versions of Dolphin have this issue (tested up to 4.0-9433)
What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
Win 10 Pro x64
Intel Core i7-4702MQ CPU @2.20GHz
GeForce GT 750M
2x 8GB Hynix 1600MHz
GeForce Game Ready Driver 368.39
Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
I also ran into the mildly annoying Issue #9448 (Dual Core FIFO log replay prevents Dolphin from being closed) when viewing my FIFO log

It's probably the same as 8864, but, a more reasonable way to reproduce it is nice, and some direct errors to look at.

If I find any more pieces to this puzzle I'll be sure to report them!

I'm thinking that Dynamic BATs will fix this, as it fixes various Wii Mario Kart Hack issues. Please try your issues with that build to see if it behaves better (graphical issues won't be fixed, but crashes and other weird bugs might be!)

I've been watching for this problem to occur again but it hasn't happened since testing with 4.0-9433. If I can figure out some way to trigger it again I'll test the Dynamic Bat PR, but this issue is really elusive!

Also, apparently my Visual Studio update somehow failed so I'm going to need to reinstall it. Can someone play the attached .dff using the Dynamic Bat build and see if Player 4's portrait is missing? If not I'll get around to it eventually.

The dynamic BAT PR was merged a while ago. Does this issue still occur?

This issue is extremely rare and I have not seen it since 4.0-9433.

Since this issue was last seen in 4.0-9433, I think it's safe to assume that it has been fixed.
