Description

Game Name?

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)

G8ME01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

db9a997a617ee03bbc32336d6945ec02

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Shortly after the prologue coin shows up, the game fades to black, I hear snoring, a text box shows, and the game freezes. It doesn't crash, it just completely freezes. Even the FPS counter gets stuck.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Just start a new game?

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

5.0 stable, and 4.2 stable. Happens on both

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

AMD FX-6350, Radeon HD 7850, Windows 10, 16GB RAM

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

I have tried just abotu every combination of settings possible, and have tried to make it past this point a good 30+ times with single core, sync GPU/CPU, bounding box on/off, EFB to texture/RAM, etc. Tried everything possible.

It means Bounding Box is not working when it crashes there. The old version of bounding box in 4.0.2 doesn't even require a GPU, so, this is likely an issue on your end on the configuration side.

Could you give me any kind of idea how to absolutely make sure Bounding Box is working? As far as I can tell, it should absolutely work on a 7850.

on 4.0.2 it should work on any computer. on 5.0 and newer it should still work on a Radeon 7xxx unless there is some kind of driver issue. The game INI should force bounding box on regardless, so, it should be kind of hard to purposefully disable it.

Alright, on clean 4.0.2 it works. However playing at 40 fps isn't ideal. Would a complete reinstall of video card drivers be recommended?

So, what's going on is that your video card is failing on hardware bounding box for some reason.

Also, I need a way to monitor issues better on this, I'm sorry about the huge delay but I can't seem to keep up with the tracker these days.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Won't fix

We have no intention of supporting software bounding box in the hardware backends going forward.
