Description

Game Name?

Super Mario Sunshine

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)

GMSE01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

While the progress report said Performance Queries are not supported in D3D12, it said nothing about the lack of support causing graphics drivers to crash when trying to use Performance Queries.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Use Direct 3D 12 backend, and I've only seen drivers crash on AMD, as that's what I use. I tested it a while back, and even with new drivers, which may not help my card, the crash still occurred.

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

I tested it on 5.0, 5.0-1228, and it probably dates back to the introduction.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 16GB DDR3
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64x

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

If you successfully crash your graphics drivers testing this, you will want to restart your computer.

Marking this as questionable because you're missing a bit here.

Please test 5.0 stable at least. If it crashes there, no need to bisect. If it doesn't, there's been a change that caused this and you'll need to bisect to find out which development build broke it.

Also, which part of SMS? Do you boot the game and it crashes? Do you have to load a save? Shoot FLUDD? Describe how to reproduce the crash.

This is my first time here, and 5.0 stable was there, but listed as "5.0" And what is missing?

More like how do I set this information in the first place?

My apologies. I must have missed that.

Can you describe how to reproduce the crash?

I loaded my save to reach Delfino Plaza, and shortly after the intro started, the driver crashed because of Direct 3D 12's lack of performance queries.

Just to clarify, this isn't Dolphin crashing, it's the graphics driver that's crashing.

I just also tested that it also occurs with a new game once you reach Delfino Plaza.

Doing a little more testing, I was able to select my Intel Integrated Graphics in Dolphin and loading up Delfino Plaza was proceeding to crash that driver because of performance queries. From what I read in the progress report, performance queries are used to check how much of the goo has been cleared, and this might not work on a save that has gotten the shine sprite from clearing off the goo from the sprite in the tower.

  • Status changed from New to Won't fix

Won't be fixed anymore. D3D12 has been removed from master as of https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/1880a97bb055b917108b1391d44fa9c04015c289/ and is no longer supported.
