What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

There is major stuttering and audio crackling in Simpsons Hit and Run. The Stuttering happens only when driving.

The audio crackling happens mostly when on foot.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Play the game for a while in Vulkan. It happens almost every time when jumping the bridge in the first level. And often when doing sharp turns.

The audio crackling can happen at any time. Try talking to NPCs. It also happened the first time I entered the school.

Resolution was at native, anisotropic filtering was at x1, anti aliasing was off.

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

5.0-1480

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

gtx 970, i5 processor, windows 10

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

I'm sure it's not simply a texture cache issue, because I played the game for hours in the same map, and it was still happening.

I tried the stable version using openGL, and noticed a brief microsecond of stutter in one location.I didn't get any crackling audio. So I think it's an existing problem that Vulkan is massively exacerbating.

I ran the game on my computer in Vulkan and it ran pretty much the same as OpenGL. I honestly don't know how else to investigate this though.

Tested on 5.0-1646 with NVIDIA Drivers 376.33, talked to Marge and drove around a few minutes and didn't experience any stuttering. Windows 10 64-bit using Vulkan on Native res with no AA and 1x AF.

  • Status changed from New to Working as intended

There's nothing in this issue to suggest Dolphin is doing anything wrong.
