Emulator Issues #1057
closed[Fog] Broken projection
0%
Description
When "Disable fog" activated there is a plenty of gray-white mass happens
on the screens.
Noticed on: Radeon 4850 & 70 with Catalyst 9-4, GeForce 8300, 8600 with
Forceware 169.32 and >177.69. GTX260 with 182.06.
Tested on RE1 with revs 3521 and 3550. To find an actual revision which is
guilty in that I need more time.

Yeah, I agree fog is messed up. in mkwii the game is projected onto the fog.

So, don't disable the fog? If it wasn't for those Resident Evil guys complaining, I
would have removed the option.

Complaining Resident Evil guys , yeah. How did I forget about that...
Problem is that it appears not only in RE games which automatically proves that this
option used not only these mere "complaining Resident Evil guys".

Hmm, that's odd, i'm using r3570 and I just tried on RE0 and RE4, and i even tried on
SSBM, it worked on all games.. also note that even if the thing shouldn't require a
restart of the emu, it's a bit hazardous to change it mid-game, and it may need a few
tries...

Well, in MKWii disabling the fog helps the game :P I though this was a thread about
it being broken while it was on :D

- Status changed from Questionable to Won't fix
Bad hack is bad.

Bad fog implementation is bad.
Make it work like on real GC (where such F* pale mist doesn't exist in REs) and then
remove it.

I guess it not working at all is better than it working better, even if it could
cause some problems

hacky code is always an issue

But it works. Its better then what they had. We can use this till someone else does
better.
Nuff said. Looks like we have here a set of "allowed" and "disallowed" hacks.
