Emulator Issues #12756
openAudio may shut off improperly if the host system changes its volume
0%
Description
Game Name?
Seemingly any GC or Wii game from what I've tested, but for the sake of what I've tested and verified at least:
*Wii Menu
*Check Mii Out Channel
*Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)
*(Wii Menu has no Game ID, but if it helps, it's the USA one)
*HAPE01
*GCBE7D
MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)
*(IDK how to do that for the Wii Menu, but Dolphin has no complaints when I did a NAND check)
*(IDK how to do that for a channel installed in the Wii Menu)
*c8236b85c85656fa5bff93cf19f6e586
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
Playing around with the volume of the host computer can cause the audio to improperly shut off from the emulator (As in, some beep may be heard and then no audio will come from the game in question)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
*Boot any of the games above
*On the title screen, violently slide the volume of your host device (not the one in Dolphin's audio settings), probably also try to go to the mininum often, this may take a while in some cases, however
Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
5.0-15586, yes
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
I can't get Dolphin 5.0 to run on my PC, so I can't tell
If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
[First broken version number here (if applicable)]
If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer
[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]
What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Windows 10
Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)
Here's a video of this bug (deliberately) happening in the title screen of Check Mii Out Channel (hence why the audio has a wildly changing volume), for example, I compressed the file into three parts as it was over 5 MB, and just in case, yes this happens in single core.
