Description

Game Name?

Red Steel

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Wiimote plus movement stuttering in Red Steel.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Launch the game and start moving the pointer. The problem ofcourse persists not only in the menu, but in the gameplay phase too.
Also I found workaround: slowdown the speed to 10% (with minus button in my case) and then raise it back to 100% (with plus button in my case). After that the game is playing comfortable, no stuttering at all.
I captured the problem and the workaround on the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDuPj70n9dA

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

yes, 5.0-16073

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

yes, 5.0-15445, 5.0-15993

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

i9 9900k, 2080 super, windows 10 pro 64bit

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

[Anything else here]

I am using original Wii MotionPlus INSIDE + original Nunchuk + Mayflash Wireless Sensor DolphinBar.
Tried with 60fps patch for Red Steel and without it, with and without attached Nunchuk. The problem persists anyway.
Interesting observation 1: if I apply workaround without Nunchuk attached and then attach Nunchuk, I will get the problem again and I will need to apply the workaround again.
Interesting observation 2: even when stuttering is here in the game, I got no stuttering in wii menu (Home button on the wiimote) at all.

I found another workaround: open Wii menu (home button) and lower the volume to zero.

  • Status changed from New to Won't fix

Some games continuously send audio data to the Wii Remote.
Certain Bluetooth hardware and/or software stacks aren't able to keep up with this.

Slowing down the game temporarily probably allowed the queue of audio packets to flush out.

Using "Bluetooth Passthrough" might be able to help it (the DolphinBar doesn't support this however).

Another workaround would probably be to disable "Enable Speaker Data" on the "Controllers" dialog.
