Description

Game Name?

Sonic Colors (Disc 1, Revision 0)

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

SNCE8P (00010000534e4345)

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Game fails to launch (black screen only) with V-Sync enabled on Ryzen 7 5800H with integrated graphics (iGPU/APU). Turning off V-Sync will launch the game but with screen tearing as expected. However, V-Sync works on other games like Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo (R7GEAF - 0001000052374745).

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Turn on V-Sync on Dolphin emulator (not on AMD settings).

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Dolphin 5.0-19358 (D3D12)

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

[Yes/No and version number here]

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

[First broken version number here (if applicable)]

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

https://www.bee-link.com/beelink-amd-ryzen-5-ser5-5800u-minipc-clone-1

OS: Win11 Pro
Mini PC: Beelink SER5 Pro
APU: Ryzen 7 5800H
RAM: 16GB
SSD: 500GB

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

On the possibility it is an AMD driver related issue, other games work with V-Sync enabled in Dolphin, so it makes that theory a bit less conclusive. Hope the devs can further invesitigate and confirm.

Try turning off dualcore to see if that affects it. It's under Options -> Configuration

That worked! Thank you! :)

Curious, I always had Dual Core enabled on my laptop with a discrete NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti and it did not have that problem.
Any ideas why it was the case?

Dualcore is a hack in general. I'm guessing this game is "more" dualcore sensitive than others, and Vsync forcing the GPU thread to wait is causing a desync/crash. Single Core doesn't have those issues so it doesn't crash.

This gets filed into the "Dualcore is broken" bug report as another way to test it. Since this is so easy to reproduce, I think it's a rather good addition to it.
