Emulator Issues #2024
closedIn-game voices on the BMX games play at about half the recorded rate
0%
Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Load Dolphin
- Load Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
- Get into any level and crash your character.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is a normal human grunt, yelp, or other noise.
Output pitch is too low. Picture the scenes in Home Alone 2 where Kevin is
playing with the voice changer on the tape recorder.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest version I'm testing with is r4771, but it hasn't worked with any
version so far.
Please provide any additional information below.
The voice files are stored in .ZSD files, which apparently were first used
on the PS2. They seem to be similar in concept to unix .tar files,
basically a bunch of files wrapped into one file. I'm not sure if they are
compressed or not, or what microcode they use.

Forgot to mention I'm running Windows 7 Pro, x64.

hmm, that could imply those voices are 48khz wave.

That is consistent with some info I saw on the .zsd files. I couldn't get them to play
with the software I tried outside dolphin, so I don't know for sure.

Actually I haven't seen any other game that uses 48Khz wave rather than adpcm

The opening voice in Tales Of Symphonia also plays at half speed I don't know if
these are related but thought I'd share my experience

Interesting. interdpth told me that his TOS which sounds bad is NTSC as well. I have
RE0 in PAL and NTSC, and only the NTSC version has some sound issues. Either a timing
issue, or these NTSC versions are using a slightly different AX ucode.

Please respond if this issue is still valid, or it will be closed.

This issue is still occurring as of r6574 (the most recent build I have at the time of writing this.)
