This problem did not exist prior to the sound system rework. I can post a
sound comparison if you would like.

I don't hear a difference. On the newest build.

I hear this too, like voices in Smash brawl or sound effects in F-Zero GX... A slight
distortion can be noticed, but not in all kinds of streams. For instance, Brawl's
music plays flawlessly..

There is a difference, it can just be hard to hear. I'll post a comparison sound later.

I've uploaded a sample from Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. The first sound is from R4707,
the newest previous build available before the sound system rework. The second sound
is from R5152. Notice there is a minor high pitched noise in the background when
Sonic speaks.

in sonic adventure 2 battle (PAL) the music sounds like 22khz ... in my very early selfcompiled http://rapidshare.com/files/212886274/SVN_2746_32bit_and_JitIL_and_64bit.7z it sounds like it should: 44khz
and the speach sounds even worse... like 16khz or 11khz. (compared to my very old r2746)
could it be related to this issue?

Agreed. Everything about Dolphin is amazing except for the sound sometimes. It can be scratchy at times.

Can this be closed? Did anyone try the voices with r6041 (or later)? Issue 2771 and Issue 2981 were fixed by this.
