Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Start a new game.
- As soon as the sprite starts talking, you will notice that only the first letter appears, the text then stops flowing.
- Press A to skip and make the dialog appear all at once.
- The real problem happens shortly after when the game hits you with an unskipable dialog box. No text appears in the box and there is no way to proceed.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is normal flow of text for skipable and unskipable text boxes. Instead we have non-flowing text.
Dolphin version with the problem? Other Dolphin version without the
problem? Every SVN version from about 5748 and up has the problem. Official release 2.0 does not have the problem but is unplayable due to speed (speed is perfect in later revs).
32-bit or 64-bit and any other build parameters?
My testing was done on the 64-bit builds.
OS version and versions of tools/libraries used?
Windows 7 64-bits. Up to date DirectX runtimes as of July 20th 2010. ATI Catalyst v10.6
Please provide any additional information below.
System information: Intel Core i7-720QM, 8GB ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
Plugins affected: In the latest revisions, all video plugins are affected (dx9, dx11 and openGL). In the older revs and in the official 2.0 release this problem is not present but the game is unplayable because of speed. OpenCL was not a factor in this issue. I also tried almost all the configuration options to no avail.

same issue. No change in any new revisions of dolphin.

Tested this in R6727 and the sprites's dialog appears without any issue, tested this up until where the farmer driving the cart asks for your name. Text renders correctly throughout.
Confirmed in both OpenGL and D3D9.
Windows XP 64Bit Ultimate
Nvidia ASUS 8800GTX
4GB DDR2
Anyone still experiencing this problem? No one else has said their system specs except OP so maybe only ATI?

Well I am confirm that is appears to be functional on ati cards as well and also with directx 11 plugin my specs are
intel Q6600 2.4ghz cpu
ati 4870
4gb ddr2 ram
Went right the intro part of the game through the dialogues to where you can finally move around etc. and did not have a single text issue not even with the text bubbles with no skip option (which used to be the most buggy ones). Did not notice any other glitches or problems only real issue is speed related which can't be helped :) fyi with above specs I got about 60-65% fps on the fields outside the house and have been getting around same speed for at least a year now no real increase or decrease on my system for this game in that spot. Great work all devs you appeared to have fixed the text issue somewhere along the line :) my revision btw was r6872 svn self compiled no modifications x64 win ssse3. As far as I can tell this issue appears to be resolved.
