Description

What's the problem?
Newer revisions of Dolphin dont start.

Dolphin version with the problem (as it appears in the title bar, Ex.: "R
4779" or "R 6403M"):

7336

Operating system and version:
32-bit or 64-bit:

Windows 7 64-Bit

Please provide any additional information below.

I have installed all the vb-runtimes (2005, 2008, 2010) 32bit & 64bit and Visual Studio 2010 but the newer revisions of dolphin wont start at all. I did a clean install of dolphin in a new folder and everytime i try to start it it shows 0xc000007b

This issue doesn't occur to me, using Mamario's x86 build of r7336 on Windows 7 (Ultimate) x86...

"Dolphin version that does not have the problem"? Can you try figuring out the exact revision where the problem started, or at least narrowing it down?

maybe its your windows? its windows 7 x64 or windows 7 service pack 1 x64?
maybe you are missing some dll file. if some error appears to you copy exactly what it says here. that may be helpful.
how much time you have installed windows?
(after 6 months windows 7 just go stupid. all this insane errors appears and have no explanation)
if your windows its older than 6 months i would recommend you clean your registry.
tune up utilities 2011 has 15 days of full free use and not only cleans your registry defragments your hard disks and give you hundreds of options to optimize your pc. but if its not that old and here they cannot help you a virus may be working in the backround. i hope this helps you.

  • maybe your computer viruses or antivirus problems.
  • that error occurred when non compatible application run. maybe you can try run sfc.

Hi there,
seems like your problem is a regression. Regressions can be easy to fix if a developer knows which revision of Dolphin caused the regression. However, testing which revision broke anything can be a damn time-consuming task or even impossible if you can't reproduce it (while the mistake in the affected commit might be obvious). Thus, we (the Dolphin devs) heavily depend on our users telling us proper information. That is, it would be nice of you if you checked different Dolphin builds until you can tell us for sure which revision caused this issue. You'll certainly get more developer feedback then (if you don't, we really have no idea) and the issue will more likely be fixed soon.

You don't need the VB runtimes to run Dolphin, you need C++ runtimes and the latest DirectX runtimes.

64bit versions seem to be borked (0xc000007b) starting from 7284.

The previous revision (7283 64bit) boots up fine on my machine whereas 7284 doesn't.

Hope this helps - the official forum seems to be dominated by a squaresoft fanboy who calls people a "fucking idiot" if they ask for help regarding this issue.

it seems to me that it has to do with the processor. my sister has an amd athlon xp 2400 and ive read of the amd athlon xp 2600 not working either due to the newer versions of dolphin relying on the processor to support functions that older versions supported them selves.

  • Status changed from New to Invalid

Try installing Dolphin into a new directory if it does not start.

Same problem here (Error 0xc000007b) with revision 7417 x64 official.

Running on:
Acer Aspire 5542-1297
AMD Athlon II X2 M300
ATI Radeon HD 4200
3 GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

Revision 7283 x64 official works fine, Revision 7284 x64 official not work.

Hope this help to solve the problem.

I should have noted some of my specs earlier, here they are:

Intel i7 2600k Stock
Windows 7 64bit
4gb Corsair RAM
Gigabyte GTX460 SE 1GB

Seems it's happening with both AMD and Intel at this stage.
